Kanye West, like many others, is mourning the death of beloved fashion icon Virgil Abloh. The Off-White founder last Sunday (November 28) after battling cancer for the past two years. West was one of the closest friends Virgil had in the industry. The Chicago rapper hasn’t made any public statements yet about the tragic news, though dedicated his last Sunday Service to his late friend. However, West deleted all of his Instagram posts yesterday after the passing of Virgil Abloh.
Kanye & Virgil Abloh’s Relationship
The two had a very deep relationship and worked frequently with each other in their fields of music and fashion. The duo is responsible for many culturally impactful designs and concepts. This relationship began in fashion when the two would work together on projects for different high-end brands. Abloh became the director for West’s creative agency Donda. Since then, the two have pursued many projects and opportunities, while growing into bigger icons individually.
Like most friendships, West and Abloh went through ups and downs with each other. West was bothered & upset with Abloh after he took a position at Lous Vuitton a few years ago. Later on, the two moguls squashed their issues during a Louis Vuitton fashion show in 2018. They were last seen together at a listening event for Ye’s latest album DONDA in Chicago.
Kanye’s Last Post Before Deleting All
Before Kanye deleted all of his Instagram posts yesterday, the last post he shared was on Thanksgiving. After unfollowing his ex-wife Kim Kardashian days prior, he shared a Thanksgiving prayer on the platform, reflecting on his desire to get his family back together. In his own words: “All I think about every day is how I get my family back together and how I heal the pain that I’ve caused…I take accountability for my actions. New word alert: misactions. The one thing that all my successes and failures have in common is me”.
It’s not the first time West has erased his presence from social media, but everyone at FM Hip-Hop that West is in good spirits & properly coping with the loss of his longtime friend.
