Kanye West Praises Steve Lacy & His New Album ‘Gemini Rights’

Kanye West recently showed love to fellow Gemini singer Steve Lacy and his highly successful new album Gemini Rights. In a comment on one of Lacy’s Instagram posts, Kanye wrote, “One of the most inspiring people on the planet.” He described the album as “beautiful” before the previous statement & many other fans/peers/friends agreed in the comment section as well. The 10-track follow-up to his previous album Apollo XXI may also likely score the musician another Grammy nomination. With Lacy now getting public praise from Kanye West, it’ll be exciting to see how much his solo career evolves outside of The Internet crew. Take a look at the picture Ye commented on below:

Steve’s Current & Previous Impact As An Artist

Last Friday, July 15th, Steve Lacy dropped the album Gemini Rights & it’s doing pretty good numbers. All three music videos for the singles off the album have over a million views on each (Bad Habits, Sunshine & Mercury). As great of an accomplishment as this is, Steve also isn’t new to working on huge songs. He’s a member of the famous band The Internet alongside members such as Syd, Matt Martians, Patrick Paige II & Christopher Smith. Together, the group’s 2015 album Ego Death earned a Grammy nomination & fueled everyone’s careers. Lacy’s also worked with other talented acts, including Kendrick Lamar, Blood Orange & former Odd Future members, before becoming an established solo act.

First Week Sales Prediction For Gemini Rights

With the buzz and reception for both Steve and his new album being positive, it’s reasonable to expect him to have his biggest first week so far in his career. For context, The Internet’s last group album Hive Mind sold around 14,000 copies in its first week in 2018. How many do you think Steve Lacy can push with his solo album? Some could even argue that he’s grown bigger than the group itself at this point of his career, so I’d guess about the same or more units than The Internet’s Hive Mind week one sales.
