California State Senate Makes Kendrick Lamar Generational Icon
Kendrick Lamar is now officially a Generational Icon thanks to the California State Senate. The rapper was honored on the floor of the legislative body yesterday. Senator Isadore Hall of the 35th District did the honors.
“In less than ten years as a professional artist, Mr. Lamar has gone from a local Compton young boy to become a multi-platinum, Billboard chart topping, two-time Grammy award winning musician,” Hall stated.
According to Senator Hall, Lamar is a familiar face in the community, having donated hundreds of thousands of dollars out of pocket to various programs and initiatives in his old neighborhood.
“Being from the city of Compton and knowing the parks that I played at and neighborhoods, I always thought how great the opportunity would be to give back to my community,” Kendrick said on the Senate floor.
Kendrick has always been a game changer, but it’s nice to know that he is being acknowledged for it by such a prestigious group of people. Congratulations Lamar, and keep up the good work!
