DAMN! Kendrick Slaps us with another Hit while staying in his Element

Kendrick Lamar released his video “Element” off his  certified platinum 4th studio album“DAMN”.  Like most Kendrick videos it’s not a cut, copy and paste kind of video. “Element” the video displays images that are taken from the works  from one of the first pioneers  of black filmmakers Gordon Parks. Parks who is known for his legendary photos and videos; a leader in the Blaxplotation genre. If your lucky to have gotten the chance to see any of Mr. Parks  work you can see Why Kendrick and video director Jonas Lindstroem would choose to use his work as a muse. Images from Gordon Parks depicting struggle, poverty, the burning of a house and street fighting. “Element” the video is a modern day version of a Blaxplotation film the songs would be perfect for a soundtrack going hand in hand with the high energy, explosive content, and heavy beats.

Kendrick’s first words on the song  are “I don’t give a fuck,I  don’t give a fuck” those words alone get you pumped up and set the tone for the video. The video isn’t focused on just Kung -Fu  Kenny a moniker Kendrick uses , Kendrick is getting his hands dirty and was able to take on the role as a character in his video with multiple fight scenes starring him as the aggressor. Why so much violence you may ask? This video is depicting our reality, this is how so many of us are living. Filled with anger and explosive behaviors Perfect for the catchy chorus  ” If i gotta slap a pussy-ass nigga i’m gon make it look sexy”.
