Kid Capri is back! After two decades off the field, the legendary DJ is back in the mix and also credits his comeback to a diss.
A Little History
Kid Capri is a legend amongst legends. He has served as a producer on some of the hottest tracks. Not to mention he’s won some outstanding awards for his work. One particular worthy note,
“In 2018, Kid Capri narrated Kendrick Lamar’s “Damn;” the only hip hop album to win a Pulitzer Prize!”
That is notable!
Impressively his list of hip-hop artist collaborators is beyond dope. A source notes,
He has produced music for power players like Foxy Brown, The Lox, Snoop Doggy Dogg, Jay-Z, 50 Cent, Heavy-D, KRS-ONE, Slick Rick, Mary J. Blige, Busta Rhymes, The Lost Boys, Brand Nubian, Camron, Noreaga, Big Pun, Da Ranjahz, Big L and Jermaine Dupri!
Without a doubt, he is hip hop!
What Brought Kid Capri Back
A “Gucci Gang” member hopped on social media two years ago and gave Eminem the business. No one had an idea then, where the statements stemmed from. As a source says, “It was random.” One thing was sure; the word reeked of disrespect.
“Hey f***Eminem, you is lame as hell. Ain’t nobody listening to your old a**. You lame as f***, b****.”
Nobody is saying he has to like Eminem. No one is also saying it necessary that he talk up who he doesn’t vibe with. The unreasonable lack of disrespect for Eminem’s contributions in the business is uncalled-for. But, unsurprisingly, Kid Capri wasn’t having any of that. So he planned his comeback to school a few from the new school.
“I got tired of seeing the younger dudes thinking that the older people ain’t capable. Like we ain’t been here building this business from the ground up from day one.”
He’s got a valid point. Where would we be as a culture without the contributions of the ones before us! The minimum we can pay is a modicum of respect for their efforts to widen the door a little more.
Kid Capri’s Album
Of course, Kid Capri is only crediting this as part of his reason for stepping back on the field. According to a source, his album dropped today on his birthday. He is also feeling stoked about the product.
“Happy!!! Album dropping on Monday, my singles is doing good, health is great, family is taking care of, my music is dope, and I’m giving the world a gift on my birthday Feb 7th!”
Not only is he tapping back into his love of the craft, but ironically his album is also entitled “The Love Album.”
Hands up for Kid Capri. Every now in then, people need a reminder of what’s what? Sadly, The disrespect of another artist drove him back to create, but we’re happy about it. One can’t deny they were right when they said, “there is a silver lining in every dark cloud. As Snoop would say, “Oh for sho.”
So keep on doing the thing, Kid Capri; we see you.
