King Von’s Estate Announces “What It Means To Be King” Album

Fans of King Von can expect a collection of unreleased music on his new “What It Means To Be King” album. The record from the late Chicago rapper, born Dayvon Bennett, is out on March 4th.

What It Means To Be King Von

King Von first stepped on the music scene in 2019 with his debut album Grandson, Vol 1. Now, three years later, his legacy is being carried on with a brand new posthumous project, “What It Means To Be King.”

OTF and Empire also issued a press release to Billboard this week (February 4th) detailing what the new album has in store. “Packed with the ferocious bars and gripping narratives that earned Von his fanbase, the album features songs that range from introspective to aggressive to romantic,” the statement reads. “What It Means To Be King” will be a bittersweet treat for fans and a moment of closure for those who loved him most.”

The album’s first single, ‘Don’t Play That,’ was released the day before (February 3rd). The new track features Von and also Atlanta rapper 21 Savage rapping over a haunting beat. The new song from “What It Means To Be King” recently became semi-viral on TikTok following Von’s tragic passing in November 2020.

Von’s continued success

“What It Means To Be King” isn’t the only release from the ‘Crazy Story’ rapper that’s seen success after the tragic Monaco Hookah Lounge shooting. Von’s second studio mixtape “Levon James” also re-entered the Billboard Hot 100 and placed no. 39 in the weeks following his death.

In addition to that, “Welcome to O Block” also jumped into the top 5 on the Billboard Hot 100. Clearly, Von’s loyal fan base strives to keep his name alive among the Chicago drill scene. “What It Means To Be King” will then likely help to keep this legacy.
