In late 2019, the court sentenced Kodak to 46 months behind bars in a gun case. Months later, Donald Trump freed him as part of a collection of pardons and commutations.

However, the rapper failed his drug test during his hearing in September 2021. Therefore, he violated the terms of his supervised release.

As a result, the judge ordered treatment for Kodak and put him into a 90-day residential program. At the time, Cohen declined to comment about the case, but Kodak served his time.

After Kodak’s Rehab

A month after his rehab, the City of Margate, Fla. recognized Kodak.

The rapper donated $20,000 to the daughter of a South Florida police officer who died from problems related to Covid. City officials announced that the donation would go toward the girl’s college fund. According to NBC Miami,

“Some of you may know him as a celebrity, but this is an act of charity,” board member Arlene R. Schwartz said.

The rapper also gave a few words during the announcement.

“You know, thanks for honoring me and, you know, the recognition. I know it’s a lot of other good people out there that do a lot of good things for people that goes unnoticed. But I want to say I thank y’all too for the hard work.”
