Kristoff St. John Sues Mental Health Company after Son’s Suicide
Bosses at a California mental health facility are insisting they have not been served with papers by actor Kristoff St. John. According to the statement provided by TheWrap:
“The staff and management of La Casa Mental Health Rehabilitation Center want to express their deepest sympathies to the family of Julian St. John following his tragic suicide in November 2014,”
“We believe it is important to state that the California Department of Health Care Services reviewed the case and on May 5, 2015, found that La Casa was in compliance with all applicable licensing laws and regulations,” the statement says. “Similarly, the Los Angeles Department of Mental Health concluded that Mr. St. John’s treatment and care at La Casa was reasonable and in line with clinical procedures, given his mental condition.”
Julian St. John, 24, was found dead with a bag over his head in a bathroom at the center on Nov. 23, less than three weeks after he attempted to kill himself in the same way, according to the lawsuit filed Tuesday in Los Angeles Superior Court.
“The facility was aware of Julian’s history of suicidal ideation, but only placed him under one-on-one observation for approximately two weeks following his most recent suicide attempt,” the suit states.
“The Young and the Restless” star Kristoff St. John son tragically committed suicide back in November 2014. Now, Kristoff is suing the hospital where Julian St. John suffocated himself with a plastic bag. Kristoff and his wife were well aware of their son Julian’s issues and had checked him in to La Casa Mental Health Hospital in Long Beach, California to get him the help that ne desperately needed. Instead, Julian ended up taking his own life while in their care.
According to the suit, Julian was on suicide watch after attempting suicide two and a half weeks prior. Though staff were supposed to check on him every 15 minutes, Julian was allegedly left alone for at least an hour before he was found. Kristoff and Mia further claim that the staff members falsified documents to make it seem like they were more attentive than they actually were and that they called 911 nearly half an hour later than they said they did.
