The death of George Floyd shocked the world and started a movement that will never be forgotten. Lil Baby (@lilbaby_1) has been trying to spread cheer into what has been an undoubtedly sad year for Floyd’s family.
Nearly 7 months after the tragedy, Lil Baby teamed up with celebrities to give Floyd’s daughter Gianna a 7th birthday party she’ll never forget. The L.O.L. dolls-themed bash took place in Atlanta’s Pink Hotel on Wednesday.
According to Forbes, the party was planned in July by ATL restaurant owners Ericka and William Platt and NBA star Stephen Jackson. The Platt’s were close to the Floyd family and have been a support system to Gianna and her mother. Jackson was the leading voice for the Floyd protest movement, and he and the Platt’s are now close friends.
“I think I adopted another child, God put me into this position,” Jackson said of Gianna. “I’m going to do the best that I can.”
According to TMZ, Lil Baby funded the entire celebration. The pamper party included stations for hair styling, manicures and pedicures, and balloons and candy for Little Gianna.
Expectedly, the 26-year-old documented the party on social media. His Instagram story captioned “RIP George Floyd” and “Happy Birthday Gianna from ‘The Bigger Picture.’” The rapper was referencing his song about police brutality, inspired by Floyd’s murder.
Additionally, Gianna’s mom showed gratitude for her friends and family supporting Gianna on her first birthday without her father. Future’s daughter Londyn Wilburn and Shaquille O’Neal also appeared at the party.
