Lil Nas X finally announces new album, coming soon with a creative teaser!

Lil Nas X, after an extended rollout, finally plans to release his first debut album, Montero.

The album will arrive after a long list of singles and promotional teasers dating back to July 2020, when he released a teaser video for Call Me By Your Name.

This teaser went viral and had fans begging for the release of the song. Lil Nas X released a special Christmas song entitled “Holiday” on November 13. That song spawned some of the most creative photo shoots we have seen for a single release, with many portraits of the artist displaying a Grinch-like quality.

An Unlikely Hero

Montero (Call Me By Your Name) was released earlier this year in March, which led to much controversy. The provocative music video, along with a shoe promo gone bad, made Lil Nas X a heated topic of conversation, with discussions about sexual orientation and religion in rap and Black culture in general. The boundaries Lil Nas pushed became major news as many people dissected his performances into think pieces about the current state of rap.

He continued the rollout for this album with the release of the track “Sun Goes Down.” The song is an introspective song about self-love and standing up for yourself. It was released on May 21, along with a music video. The rapper promoted this single by performing “Sun Goes Down” along with “Montero” on SNL on May 22.

This performance led to an unfortunate clothing malfunction during a dance routine. That also went viral and increased publicity for the song.

On June 29, Lil Nas went to social media to promote his first debut album, Montero, with a teaser video. The video parodies the popular Marvel movie intro.

The teaser includes flashes of Lil Nas’s music videos as the word Montero: The Movie is revealed. The album is said to be “coming soon,” but I have a sneaky suspicion the album is going to arrive before July is over.

Lil Nas has always been an iconic character since he entered the game. We expect nothing less from his debut project.

Are you excited for this new release?
