Lil Nas X has garnered a lot of attention lately, in part, due to his video, but lately due to his sneakers.
Lil Nas X paired with company MSCHF to design the “Satan Shoe” but seems to have taken creative liberty where there was none. The shoes boldly display the iconic Nike logo on the sides and are even made similar to Nike’s Air Max 7’s.
Lil Nas X wrote to his fans, “Sorry guys, I’m legally not allowed to give the 666th pair away anymore because of the crying nerds on the internet, I haven’t been upset until today, I feel like it’s fucked up they have so much power they can get shoes canceled. freedom of expression gone out the window. but that’s gonna change soon. […] people make customs all the time, it’s never been a problem. Nike only stopped the sell of the shoe because a powerful group of people pushed them to do so.”
The legal system, for now, is siding with the mega cooperation Nike But we’ll be waiting to see how hot things really get.
