Today Lil Uzi Vert is making news and not for positive reasons.

According to hotnewshiphop.com, Uzi kept on performing despite pleas from his audience to stop the show.

Not only did Lil Uzi Vert refuse to comply with the desires of his fans, but his response was highly insensitive.

Hot Under the Collar

Several people in the audience were fainting. And so, the reaction of Uzi Vert’s fans was to persuade the artist to stop his concert.

Reportedly fans were recorded saying,

“Stop the show, Uzi! You’re f*cked up, Uzi! There are people f*cking fainting, bro!”

Pleas to Lil Uzi Vert Fall on Deaf Ears.

Lil Uzi Vert wasn’t trying to hear it.

Reportedly, Uzi’s response was,

“I don’t take no breaks. If it’s gettin’ bad, leave. If you ain’t gonna leave, stay.”

It is undeniable that such a response was highly unsettling given the recent events surrounding Travis Scott’s Astroworld event. But as most know, not all people are sensitive to their fans, and Lil Uzi Vert’s response proves that.

Catching Fire!

Since Astroworld, many artists have become more vigilant in protecting fans. Some can even say the Astroworld event started a much-needed brush fire, inciting putting the fans first. And SZA was one of the performing artists to catch on.

SZA’s response

Reports indicate that SZA recently halted her concert to check on a fan who passed out. But not only did SZA stop her show, but her actions were demonstrative of extreme compassion. As reported,

“During the stoppage, SZA instructed stagehands to bring water to those in need in the crowd.”

Her actions are, without a doubt, laudable. Nevertheless, SZA’s actions raise an interesting question, Is there a link between the artist’s recent expression and her appearance at Astroworld? Or does the context even matter?

According to the same article, SZA was one of the performers at Astroworld before the tragedy. So perhaps, her reaction was a direct result of her being a palpable part of the tragic event. But once again, does that even matter?

Dissecting Lil Uzi Vert’s Response.

One would assume that artists, in general, would learn from the Astroworld incident. But as Lil Uzi Vert proves with his response, not everyone cares to remember or generally. It is undeniable that his response indicates his feelings toward fans regarding their responsibility while attending a concert.

So, frankly, the ball is in the fan’s court. Each person must determine for themselves what supporting some artists is worth. Because ultimately, fans are responsible for their choices, especially after the revelation of truth. Maya Angelou once summed this sentiment up perfectly, “When people show you who they are, believe them.”
