Rapper Mykki Blanco undoubtedly helped make “WTP” one of the best songs on Teyana Taylor’s 2018 album K.T.S.E.
Her iconic adlibs and distinctive voice turned the song into a club anthem. However, two years later Blanco allegedly has still not received payment from Universal Music Group, Teyana’s label.
In an Instagram post early Friday, Mykki Blanco posted a photo of the song along with a caption detailing the dilemma.
“Can you believe it’s been two years and Universal Music has still not paid me my feature fee for this song,” they wrote.
They then explained that her issue was not with Teyana Taylor but, Universal Music Group who has refused to pay them. They also urged fans to stop streaming the song.
Blanco said the group is ‘Anti-LGBTG’ and does not support Black Queer individuals.
“This song and these people do not support Black, Trans & Queer people, it’s a lie I’m done participating in,” They stated.
Teyana Taylor took to Twitter to respond to allegations against her song.
“ALL of it falls on Kanye because he put Mykki on the song,” Taylor stated. ” I had no clue he was on the song until they played it for me the day before my album release party.”
Taylor went on to call out Mykki stating, “Mykki u wack for how u going out, cause YOU KNOW I have nothing to do with this & YOU KNOW I PERSONALLY made sure you was properly taken care of on my end.”
Her response was met with outrage from many fans who mentioned Teyana had misgendered the rapper who identifies as They/She. Teyana took the time to respond to those comments saying she was unaware of her transition.
I wasn’t aware that she is now a trans women. The last time I’ve seen/met her which I’ve only seen/ met her 2 times in my whole life. she wasn’t transitioning yet. That was damn near I think 2 years ago. https://t.co/lxmPP3o7ZL
