NBA YoungBoy Escapes RICO Charges Faces Up To 10 Years

NBA YoungBoy was arrested Monday night after hitting the dash on LAPD. The 21-year-old Baton Rouge rapper had a federal warrant out for his arrest. When LAPD attempted to pursue YoungBoy in a vehicle, the driver allegedly initiated a short chase ending with YoungBoy fleeing on foot. A K-9 unit was deployed, ending with YoungBoy in federal custody.

The alleged warrant was tied to the arrest of NBA YoungBoy six months ago. When he was arrested in September, he allegedly was caught with a .45 pistol and a 9mm handgun. Because he is a felon, he is not allowed to have firearms in his possession. During the arrest, it is reported over a dozen firearms were seized with some cash. NBA YoungBoy was allegedly charged with one count of illegal possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of an unregistered weapon.

A lawyer close to the case took to social media to give an update about NBA YoungBoy.

“Got the update on YoungBoy. He’s facing a federal charge for felon possession of a firearm. Carries with it a sentence of between five and ten years,” said the lawyer.

“He didn’t get hit with the RICO charge. This, however, is a severe charge. He has priors, also, when they tried to arrest him, he ran, and they found a gun in the car he ran from.”

The lawyer said jail time might be non-negotiable because of his priors, the fact that he ran, and the fact he had an illegal firearm in the vehicle he fled from.
