NBA YoungBoy is giving Atlantic Records all the heat. The label removed his mixtape, Colors, from the charts.
With the mixtape reaching #1 on Billboard charts, it was a full team ahead for YoungBoy. Clearly feeling a way about Atlantic Records and industry overall, YoungBoy shared, “Why blackball me I’m the good guy!!!??”
He continued, ” I was going #1 two weeks straight with a mixtape so they took it down off the charts [laughing emoji]. I don’t give a f*** you still can’t stop me.”
“If you a artist they not gone support you,” he also warned others. “Especially if you live a certain way.”
YoungBoy Never Broke Again is always the topic. The artist’s loyal fan base is also unmatched as they petition Atlantic Records to “Give NBA YoungBoy His Music Masters.” The petition is active on change.org.
NBA YoungBoy v. Atlantic Records
Just recently, YoungBoy said a mouthful as he spoke with DJ Akademiks on the topic. He boldly stated that he wanted out of his “slave” contract. Surprisingly, he let on that he isn’t paid nearly as much as he should, seeing how his albums sell.
Noted, YoungBoy is one of the most streamed artists of this time. He successfully Drake’s Certified Lover Boy from the No.1 spot on the charts with Sincerely, Kentrell. Released during his incarnation in 2021, this album had no features and hit Billboard 200 list.
NBA YoungBoy had made a pretty sweet offer by offering them his following four albums, with all respect to Atlantic Records. But only if they gave him his masters.
Unfortunately, they declined the offer. “Dirty Game,” YoungBoy finished, seemingly ending the discussion.
The lack of industry support is a trending topic amongst many artists. Atlantic Records seems to be a pain to legendary artists like Nicki Minaj and Lupe Fiasco. Hearing solid advice from the artists who live it offers a blueprint on how new artists should handle signing to labels.
