Netflix “wins the bidding war,” 50 Cent announced back in Spring. The artist was referring to the docuseries he’s producing on Diddy and the criminal allegations against him, which include racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution.

Variety has now confirmed the news, saying both 50 Cent and Netflix are working on the documentary production. Also, Alexandria Stapleton is directing the series.

50 Cent also announced the news on Twitter. “Coming soon! LOL,” the artist wrote in the post. Attached to the caption was a picture of a baby oil bottle called “Diddy Oil.” According to the indictment against Diddy, together with narcotics and multiple AR-15s, the authorities seized more than 1000 bottles of baby oil during the raid of the artist’s properties in Miami and Los Angeles.

“This is a story with significant human impact. It is a complex narrative spanning decades, not just the headlines or clips seen so far,” both 50 and Stapleton announced in a more formal statement. “We remain steadfast in our commitment to give a voice to the voiceless and to present authentic and nuanced perspectives. While the allegations are disturbing, we urge all to remember that Sean Combs’ story is not the full story of hip-hop and its culture. We aim to ensure that individual actions do not overshadow the culture’s broader contributions.”

50 Cent’s and Diddy’s History

Both 50 Cent and Diddy know each other. However, 50 describes the relationship as “mostly work.”

“I didn’t ever party or hang out with him,” the artist also explained. “Puff is a businessperson; when [people call him] a producer, I see people that were taken advantage of, who produced things that he took from them…I don’t have any interest in doing that.”

50 Cent also recalled a time Diddy called him shopping, which made the “Candy Shop” author uncomfortable. “I thought that was the weirdest shit in the world because that might be something that a man says to a woman,” the artist explained. “And I’m just like, “Naw, I’m not fucking with this weird energy or weird shit,” coming off the way he was just moving. From that, I wasn’t comfortable around him.”

Diddy’s Arrest

Diddy was arrested on Sept. 16 in a Manhattan hotel. The artist’s lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, claimed the arrest was “an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.”

“He is an imperfect person, but he is not a criminal,” Agnifilo also stated.

The next day, a 14-page indictment came out, with charges including but not limited to racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. The new charges came with a string of other sex crimes and abuse allegations, which Diddy has been being accused of since Nov. 2023. As of now, Puff Daddy is denied bail and placed on suicide watch in Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
