Maroon 5 has found a way to honor two deceased rappers on their album.
On Monday, Maroon 5 released the tracklist for their upcoming album, Jodi, on Twitter. The band named their album after a former manager that died a few years ago, as a tribute. The album, to many fans’ shock, has a large number of features. Among these are two surprising names: Nipsey Hussle, and Juice WRLD.
Initially, fans of Maroon 5 held mixed reactions to the track list. Many did not like the number of guest features the album would have. Fans were upset that only a few songs on the album did not include cameos, as they wanted to hear more of Maroon 5 and less of other musicians. Rap supporters are upset at the inclusion of the two deceased rappers. One fan claims the decision to include Nipsey Hussle and Juice WRLD was “using the dead from clout.” Many other folks in the community have similar replies to the news.
Nipsey Hussle, a big name in the rap community for his charitability to his community and his amazing music, died by gunshot in 2019.
The accusations of clout chasing came from fans of the deceased rappers. If Maroon 5 members had close connections with the rappers, it is not known to the community. Additionally, fans don’t know the personal relationship the artists had. They may have given their verses to Maroon 5 before their deaths. Because of this, we should give the album a chance before deciding the meanings of Maroon 5’s decision to include Nipsey Hussle and Juice WRLD.
Juice WRLD, a newer rapper from the Soundcloud era, died by overdose in 2019.
Hopefully, the songs will honor the two trailblazing artists’ strong careers and personalities.
