Noname has finally opened ‘Hood Library’, also the headquarters for her Noname Book Club. The company’s account announced the launch of the HQ on Twitter. Noname Book Club sent out an invite to all for the grand opening, promising “music, free food, and more!” Visitors were also asked to bring a book with them, new or used.

The day after opening, Noname posted on Twitter about her favorite sections of the ‘Hood Library.’ Those would be ‘F**k The Police,’ and ‘Black Capitalism Won’t Save Us.’

‘Fuck The Police’ is focused explicitly on abolitionist texts.

Noname also shared the map of the new library. Among the mentioned, there are dozens of other sections, from “Poetry” to “E’RE’BODY GAY.” Once in the ‘Hood Library,’ one can educate themselves on “Transformative Justice,” discover some “Prison Writings,” or learn “How The U.S. F**ked Up Everything” in section 5B.

Noname Book Club currently has more than a dozen of chapters all over the country. From Boston to Phoenix, Noname’s establishment has been bringing literature and education materials.

One can use the company’s website to find a list of Black-owned bookstores all over the United States. Also on the website are the dates and locations for the monthly Noname Book Club meetings. Events are taking place in bookstores of Roxbury, Los Angeles, and Brooklyn.

Noname Book Club Prison Program

The book club also expanded its operations with the Prison Program to send books to those incarcerated. A patron can fill in a form on the website and send literature to loved ones in prison. At some point, the company has shipped over 95 books in a week.

Actually, the first intention of the book club was to send out literature in jails. As Noname explained, “I was like ‘well since we have the space, we’ll build a free community library and have free classes since we here anyways.’ If the community decides they don’t want the library, cool, but we would still need the space to send out thousands of books into prisons/jails.”
