Oprah Winfrey Has Part Ownership of Weight Watchers

Oprah Winfrey just keeps getting richer by what seems like 2 successful endeavors, after another, time and time again- this time taking a seat on the Weight Watchers board of directors, as part owner. This is huge. Just, this past Friday, O purchased 6.4 million of the weight watching company’s shares; each share sold at $6.79 for 43.2 million dollars.

This deal made the media mogul a ten percent owner of the international weight watching company. The diet company’s weight loss goal plan encourages members to chronicling their food/calorie intake to achieve weight loss success. Overall, being a proactive method of making the world a better place, working to make obesity a thing of the past, one consumer at a time. This hugely professional decision, made by the sought-after OWN television network CEO, has already become an asset, with its premarket trading almost instantly exceeding, by like, 90 percent- which, by the way leveled BEFORE the trade at only 60 percent. If I were Oprah, I’d be jumping for joy. Wait, I bet she already is, because that’s what she usually does, jump for joy.

“You get weight watchers, for life! You get Weight Watchers for life! You get Weight Watchers, for life! Everybody gets Weight Watchers, for life!”

I feel like this is perfect for Winfrey, as she has battled and prevailed, publicly with maintaining a healthy balance in weight. It just makes since to be the face and/or owner behind things you can relate to. O has pretty much shown us that she leads by example, and by her personal standards, through her bold approach and personality, never showing fear of society or its judgements. I mean, I still remember the big ordeal her ‘Wagon full of animal fat’, to platform her successful weight loss, daytime talk show episode. This endeavor sort of shows, humility and gives a real sense of hope to the people.

Oprah Winfrey gives us a personal statement on her connection with Weight Watchers and what compelled her to invest with the company,

“Weight Watchers has given me the tools to begin to make the lasting shift that I and so many of us who are struggling with weight have longed for. I believe in the program so much I decided to invest in the company and partner in its evolution.”

Weight Watchers used its Facebook platform to inform the world of its brand new business venture, with Oprah, the Great, quoting:

“We’re thrilled to share some big news today- Oprah Winfrey has joined our Board and is a part owner of Weight Watchers! She’s a Member on her own personal journey toward success, and she believes so much in what we do and our mission that she wants to work with us to inspire people around the world to lead healthier and more fulfilling lives. We are thrilled to count one of the world’s most inspiring women among our #WWFamily and are so excited for what the future holds! “O” it’s an exciting day!”

I am extremely happy to watch Oprah remain humble, never being complacent and always striving for more and more success; never forgetting to help the community. She is a continuous source of motivation.
