Legendary Atlanta-based band OutKast celebrates the 25th birthday of their breakthrough album ATLiens. In honor of the Anniversary, OutKast announced in a press release they’re to release a game for mobile phones with London digital agency F That.
In the upcoming arcade, one can play for Big Boi or Andrè 3000 and fight aliens in Atlanta. At the same time, the player is to collect as many vinyl disks (like Sonic The Hedgehog rings) as possible. The score is rising with the number of collected pieces of vinyl getting higher.
Though intended for smartphones, the game would also be available on the desktop. It will also be somehow integrated with Spotify and Apple Music.
More Surprises from ATLiens Authors
The surprises don’t end here. Just a day ago, OutKast released a cartoon music video for their 1996 track Two Dope Boyz, also the part of ATLiens. The clip is primarily realistic, despite the cartoonish style. However, sometimes smoke appears in the shot and makes everything surreal.
See the example below:

Moving between the real and surreal like on the Cadillac, Two Dope Boyz mix both. Eventually, the song turns the two into a 3-minute mind-blowing cartoon, similar to an acid trip.
On top of everything above, OutKast has also delivered a deluxe 25th-anniversary version of the 1996 ATLiens. Available on streamingplatforms and in vinyl, the new is “4 LP’s, which includes the original album plus the Instrumentals which are being released commercially for the first time!”
ATLiens was initially released in 1996. Ever since it has sold more than 350,000 copies and has been certified double platinum by the RIAA. Multiple magazines listed it as one of the greatest hip-hop albums of all time.
Just a month ago, Andrè 3000 cheered on Portland Open Mic performers. Read about it here.
