Hip Hop’s First Lady, Queen Latifah, recently took a few minutes from her schedule to talk to Tamron Hall about “The Equalizer” and her other projects. Towards the end of the interview, the Queen was beaming. In response to Tamron’s inquiry into a “Girl’s Trip” sequel, Latifah had this to say,

“We got the word it (Girls Trip 2) could be happening sooner rather than later.”

In 2017, a cast of girlfriends, played by Jada Pinkett Smith, Tiffany Haddish, Regina Hall, and Queen Latifah, brought the party to the big screen. Their larger-than-life presence lit up cinemas globally with the Girls Trip premiere. The storyline was fresh. And oh my, their on-screen chemistry was amazing. And of course, we were there for every minute!

The authenticity of the characters left fans feeling as if they were a part of the “Flossy Posse”. And that trip to the “Big Easy” for the Essence Music Festival was everything! How could we not want more after that drama-filled trip infused with over-the-top hilarity! And for quite some time, there were talks of a sequel. Yet, there was no confirmation of the project happening. Quite frankly, fans have not known what to believe.

The cast is definitely on board for a “Girl’s Trip 2!”

In a March 2021 interview, Haddish spoke on her buy-in. The “She Ready” comedian said she would not mind seeing an African destination for Girls Trip 2. One can only imagine what a trip that would be.  And on a 2020 Red-Table Talk, all the cast members spoke positively about a sequel. But the word is, the hold-up is relative to salary negotiations.

However, on a positive note, producer Will Packer recently stated, that the Girls Trip sequel is definitely in talks. And, that is all we know beyond that! But hey, that is enough to keep us hyped.

Whatever the case, let us hope that it comes together soon. Because after everything that has been going on in the world, we are long overdue for another Girls Trip!
