Queen Mary J. Blige could not be more deserving of this honor. The Apollo Walk of Fame recognizes legendary performers. This honor celebrates artists lasting contributions and their part in building the theatre’s legacy. And Mary J. Blige’s receipt of this honor puts her in the class of the greats! She will take her place beside legends James Brown, Smokey Robinson, Ella Fitzgerald, Michael Jackson, and Aretha Franklin.

In 1992 Mary proved to fans she was the real one with her album What’s the 411. That year her top hit single “Real Love”, was on constant rotation! From the moment the Yonkers native picked up the mic, her talent and prowess were undeniable. She drew us into her world, holding us there with every track. Fans could not help but vibe with her as she bared her heart and soul in every project.
Mary is more than worthy of the Apollo Walk of Fame honor and she’s got the receipts to prove it!
Blige is an award-winning singer and actress. Her credits include Mud bound, Bodycam, and the role of fierce Queen pin Tejada of Power Book II: Ghost. And as for her awards, the list consists of nine Grammy’s, four American Music Awards, 12 Billboard Awards, and three Golden Globes! Not to mention she was also a nominee for induction into the 2021 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. There is no doubting her greatness.
This weekend is a beautiful weekend to honor Queen Mary. According to sources, on May 28th her accomplishments will be etched on the iconic pavement in Harlem. And we congratulate Mary because she is definitely “Living Proof” of what it means to be great!
