This week Rich the Kid, “Plug Walk” rapper, was on the receiving end of a hard-to-watch segment of “Off The Record.” Rich the Kid walked off of DJ Akademik’s podcast after being asked hard questions.
Straightaway, DJ Akademiks probed topics that caused the rapper to become irritable and frustrated. Rich the Kid attempted to steer the conversation by saying, “I like to promote my artist, label, albums, music, and merchandise.” Rich adds, “I got a skateboard that just dropped. Did you see that?” Ak dismissively replied, “…we’re gonna talk about that when I get into skateboarding segment, don’t worry.” Determined to get answers, Akademiks kept asking Rich about his issues with Interscope Records. “Why are you calling out Interscope if you’re a boss,” continued Ak.
He kept probing the rapper, expressing that it was cool if he did not want to answer questions. Rich the Kid again attempted to steer the conversation into a more positive one. Without delay, Ak adds, “…on a serious note, I see shit like a home invasion and this and that in the third, are you good?” On that note, Rich got up and walked off the set while DJ Akademiks was yelling at him to return to the shooting set.
A Look Into “The Invasion
Rich the Kid was involved in a home invasion in 2018. Amongst the victims was his girlfriend, Tori Brixx. Two males allegedly made off with jewelry and money, which they demanded. The attack left Rich hospitalized and Tori severely bruised. It is unclear if the question or the entire segment caused the rapper to dismiss himself. Ultimately, Rich chose not to asnwer the question when asked about the sensitive subject.
DJ Akademiks Famously Controversial
DJ Akademiks is no stranger to controversial media moments. Out of the gate, “Off The Record” featured rapper 6ix9ine and Wack 100. If you can recall, in 2017, Joe Budden and Migos trio almost came to blows. At the center of the altercation? None other than DJ Akademiks. Ak eluded Migos rapper “Takeoff” behind the smash hit, “Bad and Boujee.” Hence, the infamous “Who said I was left off Bad and Boujee” moment.
Rich the Kids New Projects
Rich the Kid is no stranger to the rap game. Adding to his catalog, Rich announces a collaborative album with Lil Wayne, “Trust Fund Babies,” set to drop Oct. 1. Considerably the greatest rapper alive, Lil Wayne brings anticipation to the album release.
