It’s been only a month since Russ’ release of Chomp. His latest EP only has 5 songs but it was impactful in its own way. Seemingly flowing with creativity, Russ just gave us hints that he is working on a new album. In a recent interview with Apple Music, he claims to be working with Kehlani on this new album. He mentions other big names like Keyshia Cole and Ari Lennox as well. Chomp is famously known as an EP that is mostly rap with R&B injected into it. It seems like that’s not what Russ has in mind for this album. He says, “there’s not an ounce of rap on it. And you put that right next to Chomp and it’s like, enjoy.”
Russ has worked with Kehlani before on “Take You Back” and it seems the two are collaborating again!
During his interview, he also mentions that he “wanted to rap with the best” and it seems he is doing just that! He also says that he has “never done a project like this. The fans that know the real depth of my catalog know I have stuff like this all over. But I knew that one song doesn’t really do it. When you do it five songs in a row it’s like, alright, I got it.”
It’s a pretty far advance for him considering he came into the game all on his own. Even he claims that “the whole narrative of ‘Russ doesn’t work with anyone else,’ it’s like, well because I don’t know anyone.”
We are excited to see what he comes up with now that he does have connections. We’re rooting for you Russ! Here is the interview for your enjoyment.
