Russell Okung is NOT Being Paid in Bitcoin

There has been articles all around the web saying the NFL player Russell Okung is being paid in bitcoin. This rumor is false! A recent article by The Verge proves otherwise. According to the article, an NFL spokesperson says that “his people are converting some of the money into bitcoin.”

Even Russell’s own team, the Carolina Panthers, confirmed that they only pay their team members in U.S. Dollars. It is true, however, that Okung is a big proponent of the app Zap, a bitcoin app. Zap, founded by Jack Mallers, is an app that converts USD to Bitcoin easily. According to rumors, Okung is converting at least half of his $13 million salary.

Even if Russell doesn’t have a partnership with Zap, the mere fact that he will be able to drum up enough excitement about investing helps him get richer. No wonder he hasn’t said anything to quell the interesting headlines that he is being paid in bitcoin!
