RZA has confirmed the production of an Ol’ Dirty Bastard documentary. In spite of his rugged lifestyle, he still remembered fondly.

Ol’ Dirty Bastard was a member of the Wu-Tang Clan and was the wild card of the group. He was part of the Clan since the beginning, contributing a couple of songs to their debut album. He later died on November 13, 2004, due to an accidental drug overdose.

ODB’s historical birthday celebrations

Wu Tang Clan  make it a habit to celebrate ODB’s birthday every year.  They incorporate several avenues to ensure he is remembered in a great way.  In 2018, his wife and children teamed up with nonprofit organizations like the Hip Hop 4 Foundation, to commemorate his 50th birthday.

In 2019, the Wu Tanh founding member was celebrated the entire month on November. The ODB estate has done its due diligence to keep legacy alive.  With his official Instagram, merchandise, and even his own ice cream; he will never be forgotten.

Why we love ODB

ODB did lots of crazy stuff back when he was alive. ODB used to get food stamps in a limousine. MTV had caught him doing so and broadcasted it. At the time, the law only said that one could get food stamps if they did not have to pay taxes last year. ODB had only just become popular that year, so he was still eligible for food stamps even though he was rich and famous. That incident directly brought about a change in the law when it comes to food stamps.

The other members of the Clan still miss him and every year they do a birthday bash for his memory.

The ODB documentary has been confirmed since 2016, but it has now entered production. Sony is in charge of the project, with RZA as producer. In September of this year, the search for a director had begun.

If you just can’t wait for the movie, Hulu is also making a biopic series about the Wu-Tang Clan, called Wu-Tang: An American Saga. In it, TJ Atoms is playing ODB. The series currently has two seasons and has recently been renewed for a third and final season.
