Lil Nas X dropped his Satan AirMax 97’s. All 666 pairs at $1,018 sold out in 1 minute. The rapper collaborated with streetwear company MSCHF for his “Satan Shoes.” These AirMax 97’s feature a pentagram and references bible verse Luke 10:18 – “I saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning.” As if things couldn’t get any weirder, the shoes contain a drop of human blood mixed with ink in the air bubbles. The blood is from the MSCHF’s staff, who each contributed enough for a large order.
Nike has been getting enormous backlash from the shoes. The sneaker mogul has made it very clear they did not collaborate in any way with the “Old Town Road” and denies any endorsement of Lil Nas X, MSCHF, or the Satan Shoes. The Satan Shoe went hand and hand with “Montero (Call Me By Your Name),” which dropped this weekend. Lil Nas X eats the forbidden fruit in the garden of Eden and is banished from heaven. He spins his way to hell on a CGI pole to give Satan a lap dance.
