Schoolboy Q Has Teased Fans with His New Material on Twitch

During a Twitch stream, Schoolboy Q has presented his new material. Part of the snippet might still be available on YouTube; however, the whole stream is not available, and fans can’t share any recordings.

Instruments

Schoolboy Q has presented four songs during the stream. Some material from the presentation is pure instrumentals; others already have lyrics. The pure beats sound interesting, reference jazz, and mainly use the piano instruments for harmonics. My Shazam also identified some of them as “Tree Meditations I: Birch” by Jacco Lamfers and “Something in the Milk Ain’t Clean” by Alvin Mills Project. Some other Schoolboy Q’s new no-lyrics beats reminded me of “lofi hip hop radio- beats to relax/study to” on YouTube.

Lyrics

Mentioned beats begin and end the available part of the stream on YouTube. In the middle, there’s Schoolboy Q. “With a pistol in [his] pocket,” Schoolboy Q turns jazz session into a block party. Meanwhile, calling himself a God and getting a “call about some money.” Celebration of life suddenly turns into organ solo; 30 seconds later, recordings of cop conversations come in.

The second full song on YouTube’s part of the stream talks about police brutality. In the beginning, Schoolboy Q says the name of the most famous N.W.A. song. Schoolboy Q’s track talks about treatment provided to People of Color by law enforcement. The song expands to a general conversation of the system putting people in conditions where they sometimes have no choice but to end up getting harsh punishment.

The tense of the second song is slowed down by mentioned lo-fi instrumental solo. In the end, Schoolboy states he’s “better than everybody,” and the stream ends (or at least YouTube’s part of it).
