Since the Grammys aired last Sunday night, there has been a lot of chatter. But this is not anything new. For years now, the Grammys has been the topic of discussion around artists and the public.
Every year when the Grammys announce their nominations, the flood gates of hell open their doors. And when a particular artist loses in a category, the public feels they deserved to win all hell breaks loose. It is a repeated cycle over and over again. It explains why when an artist goes to social media and rants about how f*cked up the Grammys are, I am not surprised. What is awful is that artists are coming to terms with not EVER winning a Grammy or even CLOSE to being nominated. And that is sad.
Not to mention rapper Lil Uzi. Lil Uzi tweeted, “I probably a never get one of those [trophies].” The next day following the Grammys. And even though I am such an optimistic person, I have to agree with Vert, unfortunately. Unlike some artists, Vert has been nominated for a Grammy before. He had nominations for the Best New Artist category and ‘Bad and Bouje’ with The Migos. Vert is better than some artists in terms of the Grammys. But he has not been nominated in three years. And his latest project Eternal Atake could not even get a nomination despite having support.
After all, it is the Grammys. That did not even want to incorporate Hip-Hop or acknowledge. Between boycotts and Hip Hop being marginalized still by the Recording Academy, Lil Uzi, you are not missing anything special.
