Silk Sonic takes center stage at Grammys Awards

Published

Despite the press, and changed dates due to coronavirus, the Grammys was in full effect Sunday night. Talented artists and history-making moments were on full display. Bruno Mars, and Anderson .Paak  debuted their new group ‘Silk Sonic’. Performing a premiere as ‘Silk Sonic’ the pair showcased their new song, ‘Leave The Door Open’.

Only a couple of weeks ago Mars and .Paak shocked fans across social media announcing their joint project. From their sponsorship with Lactose to their round of recent interviews, it seems like Silk Sonic was on a roll until the list of performers for the Grammys came out. And they were not on the list.

As a result, Silk Sonic came up with a funny yet fast idea to perform at the Grammys. With the help of social media, Mars and .Paak created a hashtag and after the overflowing of support came rushing in. Fans all over social media, but Twitter, in particular, hashtag LetSilkSonicLive, expressing their deep concerns about allowing the duo to perform at the Grammys. They were not only trending here in the U.S. but also other places like Columbia and Brasil. Even rapper The Game hopped on the trend to show his support for the two.

Obliviously it worked! Because within hours, CBS announced the last and final line-up for the Grammys. Honestly, the Grammys made the right choice in allowing these two to perform. Performing in what appears to be a 70’s inspired theme and each taking a smooth transition as lead, viewers like myself, was in awe of how great these two sound as a group. Not only did the set theme fit perfectly with their song, their chemistry and how well they were able to balance off one another was amazing. And not to mention the vocals, which were also fantastic. Overall, Silk Sonic Grammy’s performance was incredible. Now we have to wait until they drop their upcoming album to soak everything all in.
