SLANG, René McLean’s new independent label, is on a promising mission to develop artists across various genres. Among the initial signees is the multi-talented Will Smith.

The main purpose of labels is to showcase talent and support the growth of artists’ careers. Rolling Stones explains record labels are crucial in helping artists develop their craft while focusing on profitability and using data-driven strategies. An artist who finds a label that prioritizes their individual growth will have a significant advantage in their career.

Introducing SLANG

Rene McLean, known for his partnership and role as founding advisor at Influence Media, has just revealed his latest venture: SLANG, an independent music label. Although it may be a new contender in the industry, SLANG boasts a talented team of experienced contributors, including Producer Camp and 30 Roc.

Both are known for their work with various successful music artists. Some of those talents include Mary J. Blige, H.E.R., Nicki Minaj, Cardi B., Travis Scott, and Yo Gotti, to name a few. The label not only aligns itself with talented producers but also positions the artist as the focal point of the vision.

A Promising Roster

According to McLean’s statement in a press release, SLANG artists will benefit from a team of driven individuals determined to propel their careers and help achieve their objectives. This is what artists desire. As a bonus, it does not hurt that the label has garnered the trust of veterans and up-and-comers.

It is noted that super-talented and renowned artist “Big Willy,” also known as Will Smith, is on board.  According to Afrotech, SLANG has also recruited artists such as rapper and singer Leaf, hip-hop duo The Underachievers, alternative R&B artist Isaia Huron, and others.

Inclusivity At SLANG

One of the best things about this label is its inclusivity. The label doesn’t limit itself to a specific group or a certain level of success. As McLean states,

“I’m proud to be at the forefront of SLANG’s collaborations with talented musicians and helping them develop, regardless of their genre or current stage in their career.”

Artists seeking a label that will prioritize their interests regardless of their talents will find this refreshing.
