Soulja Boy Takes Credit For Creating TikTok In Latest Interview

Soulja Boy is the man of many firsts. Now, the rapper has added TikTok to the list. In a Thursday appearance on the It’s Tricky With Raquel Harper podcast, Soulja claimed he was responsible for the social media platform’s creation.

Harper asked Soulja Boy whom he would like to feature with during the interview. The Atlanta rapper responded by saying that he would like to do a song with Jay-Z. Draco then added that since Beyonce did the “Crank That” dance, he should get a feature with her husband.

“Man, I need that Roc Nation verse…man, you trippin’,” Soulja said. “I got Beyonce doing the “Crank That Soulja Boy.””

Harper then asked how the dance impacted the music scene today. Soulja Boy jokingly replied, “I created TikTok! It wouldn’t be no TikTok if it wasn’t for Soulja Boy.” He also joked that the platform should give him a 10 percent share.

Soulja Boy explained that he’s thankful for the app because his 2021 song “She Make It Clap” went viral on TikTok. The song eventually became No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Triller chart, earning SB a record deal as an independent artist.

The many firsts of Soulja Boy

The 31-year-old artist has accomplished his fair share of firsts on social media. He was the first artist to go viral on Youtube and the first rapper to be verified on Instagram. He even recently announced that he was expecting his first child.

It hasn’t been the smoothest journey for Soulja Boy, though. Last year, the rapper fell out with Kanye West over being excluded from the “Donda” tracklist. However, the two squashed their feud, and SB seemingly brushed it off.
