Summer Walker Takes to The Tonight Show for a Virtual Performance
Since her now one year old debut album, ‘Over It,’ Summer Walker is becoming a recognized name in R&B. In a career that began only 2 years ago, when the singer was 22, she has already topped Billboard’s R&B album charts twice as #1. Her fan base, with over 11.5 million spotify listeners a month, seems to double every month.
This Monday, Walker graced the screen with a performance of ‘Body,’ the second song on her album ‘Over It.’ The album itself is now platinum and was included in Rolling Stones Top 50 Albums of the Year.
But this time, instead of a massive crowd, Walker took to the ‘Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon’ to perform for a room full of flowers.
The aesthetically ingenious remote performance contributed something a late night studio performance rarely can. The live performance functions almost like the official music video for the song, stylistically matches Walker’s persona and vocally on par with the recorded version. The live band provides the natural backing of a live performance giving the virtual video the concert edge.
At only 24 years old, Summer Walker has never failed to impress. Even during a pandemic, she has released some of the most beloved music of the year. This performance is a must watch for R&B fans all over.
