T.I. Puts His Bravado On Display With Bold Statement

T.I. put his bravado up front and center on social media this morning. Without any hesitation, he made the bold claim,

“When it comes to getting behind that Muthaf****** mic, n-gga putting some s*** to music ain’t nobody f****** with me!”

Without any uncertainty, there was fire behind his message.

T.I. didn’t just keep the message general. He challenged some of hip-hop’s finest. It’s obvious he needed to assure the masses of his dominance. So he made a proclamation, called names, spoke some fighting words, and then, essentially, proclaimed none of the invitees could outshine him.

“Jay and Nas, you need to bring them, bring them. Nas, Wayne, Ye… n-gga they who you need. Bring them. Pusha T. Yeah, all of them.

Once he struck his momentum, T.I. was taking it full throttle.

The Ascent of T.I.

T.I. has been in the game for a while. A  source states that T.I. began showing his love for hip-hop and crafting his art at the age of nine. By 19, he was making a name for himself as he was signed to a label. By 2001, he released his first album. Eventually, he dared to establish his own label. However, he didn’t begin ascending to the top of the charts until 2003, with the release of “Trap Muzik!”

 T.I. Keeps It Moving

T.I. has been pressing forward in his career since, and it shows. As noted, he snagged four Grammy awards at the 51st ceremony. In 2012, he released another album, Trouble Man: Heavy is the Head, which landed in the 66th position on the Billboard Hot 100. In June of last year, he announced the release of an upcoming album, his final one, a media said.

 He’s Got Hand’s In a Lot of Jars

Not only has T.I. amassed monumental success in music, but different ventures, including the formulation of a lucrative TV brand so, no one is contradicting his talent and work ethic. He deserves esteem for his triumphs. However, throwing everyone under the bus is not an effective way to garner respect. There is a time to assert dominance but, is this the time?

Challengers Come Forth

One of the first of T.I.’s mentions, Jay-Z, is heralded as one of the best hip-hop artists of all time. He has over twenty years in the industry. As a source indicates, “He has ten albums ranking consistently as Number Ones in the charts.” Likewise, Nas is a heavy-hitting industry contributor. Nas’ album Illmatic is deemed one of the greatest rap albums of all time another source says. The same source also remarks, “he has sold 25 million records and received worldwide critical acclaim!”

Why ignite a flame without a cause to melt anything to the ground?

Only T.I Can Answer for T.I.

No one knows why T.I. was ranting, and no replies from the other artists have been reported yet. My hunch is that they don’t have the time for beef over trivial matters. They let a record speak for itself.

With all impartiality, we hope that T.I. gets it together and if it’s flowers he feels he deserves then, with luck, he gets all due him. However, there is no distinction necessary. They are all remarkable artists! What they have contributed to the culture is beyond valuable.

The Weeknd Barely Beats Gunna To The Number 1 Spot On Billboard 200

January 7th was popping for The Weeknd and Gunna! Both dropped incredible new music for the fans. The Weeknd came in blazing with “Dawn FM,” and Gunna came through with “DS4EVER.” Like heavyweight bout fans projected which artist would debut on top. Weeknd was the favorite. Fans expected his project to overshadow Gunna’s to the tune of 157,000 copies in sales to Gunna’s 140,000. So we are speaking about a 17,000 spread, a substantial forecast in the Weeknd’s favor.

The Results are in Weeknd vs. Gunna

Although Weeknd was favored for the number one spot, things didn’t develop as most thought. The Weeknd claimed the title and landed the number one spot. However, the spread was not nearly as considerable as initially expected. The Weeknd’s “Dawn FM” only beat out Gunna’s “DS4Ever” by 2,000 sales. As reported,

“He [The Weeknd] landed at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart with 154,000 sales, and Gunna placed No. 2 with 152,000, almost 10,000 more than what predictions said.”

A Surprise for The Weeknd

While not necessarily a surprise to the fans, the number one spot was quite surprising for “Blinding Lights,” crooner. During the time of release, The Weeknd said,

“This [sales] doesn’t matter to me. What matters is getting to experience the album together with the fans during these times.”

In fact, no one could physically acquire his music in the first week, as there were no physical copies available. So, his first week’s sales are based purely on streams. So those numbers say a lot.

Weeknd’s Love for Fans Paid Back in Kind

This type of feedback is the outcome when love for the fans and the music are first. The Weeknd kept it a hundred. Before the release, he said,

“Happy new year! Everything feels chaotic again. Music can heal, and that feels more important than another album rollout. Let’s just drop the whole thing and enjoy it with the people… XO.”

The people did just that. So even with no physical copies, fans showed the man much love and appreciation.

Everybody Wins

Both artists are doing their thing. A 2,000 difference in sales is not a tremendous gap. But those numbers were enough for the Weekend to push past Gunna. Congratulations to both for claiming number one and two spots on the Billboard 200. Since the initial release, both artists have made some amendments to their albums. Gunna added a Drake feature, “P Power.” The Weeknd has released another version of his album, with bonus material not on the original release. Kanye West Alleges Lack of Invite to 4-Year-Old Daughter’s Birthday Party

Kanye is in the news again, which has got to make a record. Today Ye became emotional on Instagram due to the absence of an invitation and denial of the location to his 4-year-Old daughter’s birthday party. More specifically, Ye wasn’t given any details as he was persona non grata.

Apparently his public cry helped because Ye made it to the party. Photos began to circulate showing a huge grin on his face as he partook in the birthday festivities.

Another Dose of Kanye

Ye’s followers get one more daily dose of Kanye. A day after being engaged in a physical altercation with a fan, Kanye is again seen ranting on video. However, this time the rant is over a family matter. The “Donda” creator spoke into the camera as he appeared to be driving,

“I wasn’t allowed to know where her party was.”

That is indeed a hard pill to swallow for any parent.

The Strain Between Ye and Kim Kardashian

Ye and Kardishan’s strained relationship has not been a secret. Kim Kardashian began a divorce filing in early 2021. She was more than open with her mother concerning her choice. Seemingly, unhappiness was the dominant factor she shared publicly.

“After turning 40 this year, I realized like, ‘No, I don’t want a husband that lives in a completely different state. I want someone that we have the same shows in common. I want someone who wants to work out with me.'”

It doesn’t help that Ye appeared to move on quickly. According to an insider, it hurt her,

“I really don’t think she bought into Irina and Kanye rumors at first and she’s not handling it well!”

Should the “cold shoulder” surprise Kanye?

He has admitted that there is a strain between him and Kim. In a recent interview, Ye said,

“Security ain’t gon’ be between me and my children. And my children aren’t gonna be on TikTok without my permission.”

There is no refuting some hostility underlying West’s statements, if not vitriol. But knowing the tension between them, why would he be confounded as to why he was not given directions to the party. Especially given the ground rules that Kim supposedly set,

As an outlet source explained,

“Bottom line… Kim wants to create a more structured system between him, her, and their kids…”

This is a sensible thing to desire for any parent.

Unexpected or not, Kanye is the Father!

So, given Ye’s recent outburst and assault incident, his missing open invitation is not exactly unexpected.

Conversely, we understand that a father needs to be there for his children, and it’s obvious Kanye wants that,

“I’m being a father, the best father–the Ye version of a father–and I’m not finna let this happen, and we gon’ be in real-time with this, right here.”

What was the Outcome?

Ye post hit someone in the feels or softened the ice a little. However, he finally made it to his little daughter’s birthday gathering after finally being sent the location details.

So good for him, so glad he made it. No one ever yearns to see children in the middle of adult situations. Fingers crossed, he will turn this into a tool, helping him transform wholly into the man he seeks to be for his children. So may love, harmony, and light find their way into the life of Ye and his family.

Ye West Caught Flipping Out on Camera

Ye cannot stay out of the news. This incident makes twice in one day Ye is making headlines. However, these headlines are less laudable. Currently, video footage is circulating around the media of Ye assaulting a fan. Then the artist appears to be raging. The only response to making sense of this current breaking news is, whoa!

Ye Is No Saint!

This current incident is not Ye’s first public outburst. Ye has proven to be quite a hothead. The media has all the receipts to prove this. Given the amount of work and energy he has been putting into multiple projects, no wonder he’s on edge. Nevertheless, does job, stress, or the like justify such behavior? Of course, not. Putting one’s hands on a fan or otherwise is never a good look for an artist. But, conversely, sometimes fans become stans (stalkerish), and they do too much pulling out the worst.

What Happened Exactly Between Ye and His Fan?

From an earlier video, Ye is seen having a verbal exchange. And, Ye did not appear willing to hear what the female was putting down. Recently, reports indicate Ye’s cousin is the woman identified in the video. The exchange, in actuality, was an act to defuse the situation. Reportedly she is heard on the video stating,

“I am your family.”

Still, so many questions require answers.

Understanding the Ye’s and fan’s Debacle

When hearing of this incident, the first thing that comes to mind is, does Ye have bodyguards to maintain a buffer between him, fans, and the press? If not, he should consider hiring a team. So, how did a fan get so close to West? Of course, this question could be answered by number one. Without guards, it’s not hard to gain access. Thirdly do people not know how to read a situation. How much does an individual need to do for someone to understand today is not the day!

Does This All Fall on Ye

The blame should not fall solely on West. Random people walking upon others is never good; it is dangerous. And Ye doesn’t owe anything to a fan. Moreover, Ye is already under a lot of stress, and stress doesn’t mix well with surprise encounters. Yet a physical altercation is still inexcusable.

A bit of an Update On the Ye Incident

New details seem to be surfacing by the minute. Yet, it still is not entirely clear what this will mean for West in the upcoming days. Assuredly many will use this as fodder for whatever plan they have for Ye. Current information indicates that the victim has checked out of urgent care. And West is under the LAPD investigation. However, given West assaulted a fan, and it is caught on camera, there might be more pressing issues up ahead. FM Hip Hop will share those details with you as more information comes to light.

Busta Rhymes Announces “New Album Done!”

Busta Rhymes hopped on social media this morning to announce his new album is complete with a bomb snippet. So all we can say is 2022 is looking good as the hip hop’s finest are lining up to show up and show out.

Fans of Busta Rhymes know he puts his life, blood, sweat, and tears into his music. We are talking straight acceleration, no breaks. So, reading Busta Rhymes stating that “New Album Done” means everything.

Busta Rhymes Adds Another Album

This upcoming record marks the Busta Rhymes’s 11th studio album release. After a two-year break, the announcement of this release was more than welcomed. This forthcoming album is following the artist’s 2020 release, “Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God.” This news is pretty incredible given the wait time between ” “Year of the Dragon” and “Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God.” Fans had an eight-year wait for the last album release. But, there is no doubt no matter the wait time, if Busta Rhymes is behind the album’s mic, the wait will be worth it.

When it comes to crafting albums, Busta Rhymes is the beast. He never gives less than his best. He’s been elevating his artistry for 30 years. Still, after all those years of work in the industry, he continues to come with his A-game. His style is untouchable beyond duplication. If ever there was a blueprint for career longevity, then Busta’s got the scrolls.

What is the Secret of Busta Rhymes’s Albums Success?

Why does Busta Rhymes has such longevity in the music industry? Because every day the sun rises, Busta Rhymes is in the studio grinding the albums. In his words,

“I go into the studio because this is what I have dedicated my life to. 30-something years of dedicating my life to the studio.”

Cordae Unleashes the Hype for Release of ‘From a Birds Eye View’

Today Cordae set the anticipation with the album announcement, His latest release, “From a Bird’s Eye View,” is coming out. Sources show it’s been almost two years since Cordae came through with a new record. However, the latest announcement ensures fans will not need to wait any longer.

Rumor is “From a Bird’s Eye View” might be the hottest hip-hop record of the year, and this is precisely what Cordae is hoping will happen with his album. The artist’s previous album “Lost Boy” was a massive hit earning him a Grammy nomination. What is truly outstanding, it was his first release. Talk about big things to fulfill. As noted, Cordae faces much industry pressure to successfully come through with another impactful body of work.

Hopefully, he killed it!

Zaytoven Collaboration Brings Out Raw Emotion in Chief Keef

Friday, January 7th, Chief Keef posted on Twitter expressing a truth many of his followers were probably unaware of. In a moment of openness, Chief Keef revealed that working on the Zaytoven Collaboration “Ain’t Gonna Happen” brought him to tears.

Keef Let’s Followers in On a Hidden Fact

According to Keef, most who listened to the track would not be able to recognize the tears. Why? Well, because he masked them. In his words,

“Fun fact: on front of ain’t gonna happen a young nigga was crying thinking about them members but every time I cry I laugh so I ended up laughing and taking the crying out….”

So that’s why most listeners were unaware of this little-known fact.

Keef’s Response is Not Hard to Understand

Music has the power to reach the depths of one’s emotional reservoir. What comes out is often raw and uncontrollable, so emotional responses such as Keef’s are understandable when a hurt runs deep. It is also an undeniable fact he’s suffered significant losses in his life, including the loss of his stepbrother, cousin, and associate. Now, couple those experiences with music and there’s no telling what might happen.

Uncovering the Link Between the Music and Emotion

How can we confirm Keef’s reaction was linked to his experience? All one must do is sit with the words of the track “Ain’t Gonna Happen” to get a robust understanding. One potent line flows as thus,

“I wanna bring my brother back but I know it ain’t gon’ happen,”

Who wouldn’t be brought to tears knowing someone you love is gone and no matter how hard you desire it, they are never coming back? Trust, the real ones understand.

Props to Keef

Chief Keef’s transparency is laudable but nevertheless, in this case, he didn’t need to say anything. Crying is a human emotion. Crying is an indicator you are still alive and can feel so Keef doesn’t owe anyone an explanation for having a human emotion. However, he chose to let the world in. Props are always given to those willing to keep it real when there is so much inauthenticity.

College Professor Dr Joshua Wright, Soon to Release Kayne West Biography

Professor Dr Joshua Wright is announcing the release of “Wake-up Mr West and the Double Consciousness of the Black Celebrity.”

Professor Wright has been working hard on his book wherein rap icon Kanye West is the subject. Now the work is complete, and he is announcing the upcoming release of the Biography on February 1st.

Why Wright Chose Kanye West?

Dr Joshua Wright explores Kanye West’s connection to the Black community in this book. Not only has Kanye West amassed great celebrity, but his complex nature is often unparalleled. So Wright makes West an exemplar for his study on the intersection of black identity and excellence in society. And he is releasing the book with the expectation others will look at West through a similar lens while reading. In the professor’s words,

“This book should be used as a case study to think about how we view this idea of Black identity in America. What it means to be Black, and what it means to be an exceptional Black person.”

West is not the Sole Wright’s Focus

While Kanye is the subject, this work delves into a more profound issue. The biography is as much of a dig into the expectations or standards Black America sets for itself as it is also about Kanye West. And this premise is cemented through this statement made by Wright.

“For any of us who are somewhat successful, there is always that challenge of figuring out should we have a responsibility to ourselves, to the Black community as a whole? Or should we just focus on the world in general? Does moving to the suburbs, sending one’s kids to a private school, or marrying a white woman make one less Black.”

These inquiries reflect some of the questions raised when Wright observes West’s movements and actions. Wherein, Wright trains his lens and then opens the search.

Fundamentally, West’s life is a point of reference.

West the Enigma

While it may seem as if Wright is calling out West, he is instead holding him up as an example of the enigma he is. West walks to the beat of his own drum. And so, consequently, he becomes the walking contradiction or misunderstood genius. However, these attributes, often seen as negatives, have catapulted Ye’s success. As Wright states,

“Kanye “Ye” West built an entertainment/business empire by becoming one of the most polarizing celebrities of the 21st century.”

This makes West the perfect subject for Wright’s work.

Who is Wright and Why Should We Listen

Wright is a Harvard graduate with great success in his professional endeavors. Wright is a professor at Trinity Washington University and also a host of One’s Woke History, an NPR podcast. However, these are not the only things the author of West’s biography Dr Wright does. He is also a hip-hop culture analyst. Such accomplishments make Dr Joshua Wright an expert in his field with a perspective worth entertaining.

COVID-19 Threatens Dr. Dre’s Investment in Super Bowl Halftime Show

Dr. Dre has got a lot to worry about. Quite a few media outlets are reporting the rumored cancellation of Dre’s Super Bowl Half-Time Show because of COVID-19. Unsurprisingly, cancellation isn’t great for Dre. He reportedly invested millions into the show. So, if Half-time is cut, then he loses his investment.

Does Dre Have Insurance From Super Bowl?

Well, a cancellation insurance policy is certainly a thing. Yes, Dr. Dre has coverage. So, one would think Dre wouldn’t have anything to worry about in this Super Bowl situation. Not in this case. Unfortunately, there always seems to be some catch. Cancellation insurance is null when it comes to COVID-19. As noted,

The nullification of coverage happened because COVID-19 is on the Communicable Disease exemption provisions list.

So, because of Omicron and the resurgence in cases, it’s looking more and more likely that the producer extraordinaire might lose his investment.

Super Bowl Hype

The Super Bowl is one of the most-watched programs annually. Many artists consider performing on stage, for one of the biggest audiences in the world, a true privilege. This year’s Dr. Dre performance at Super Bowl promised to be a significant event for Hip-Hop fans.

The lineup of performers included Kendrick Lamar, Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dog, and Eminem, top-tier talent. And without a doubt, the artists were excited about giving the masses something to remember. The legendary Snoop Dogg was quoted as saying,

“We plan on putting together a great show to give the people something that they been waiting on.”

So How Are Things Looking For Dre?

The Dre’s Super Bowl halftime show is done for if COVID cases continue to surge especially given the rise of Omicron. Cancellation is terrible news. He fronted a great deal of the money to bring the Hip-Hop legends to the bowl stage. Cancellation equals a few million dollars.

What About The Super Bowl?

Despite the possibility of canceling the halftime show, the bowl will go on.

“The NFL made it clear it wants fans in the stands, and if that can’t happen at L.A.’s SoFi Stadium, the game could be moved to say, Dallas.”

With hopes, things change: Dre gets his investment’s worth, and we get the entertainment part. So, we are keeping our fingers crossed.

Jason Derulo Caught Throwing Hands

For some, enough is enough! They are definitely taking a different approach in 2022, as Jason Derulo recently demonstrated.

What Happens In Vegas Doesn’t Always Stay In Vegas

TMZ reports that today Jason Derulo got into an all-out brawl with some trolls. The R&B crooner was in Las Vegas at a hotel when a couple of hecklers caught more than his attention. Unfortunately, they caught Derulo’s fist.

What Got Derulo Hot Under The Collar

As Derulo passed, one of the passersby’s yelled out,

“Hey, Usher! F*** you, b***h!!!”

Apparently, Derulo didn’t take the call-out of his name too kindly. Not sure if it was the reference to him being Usher or being called a female dog that got him heated. Nevertheless, the artist quickly reacted with a punch to the face. And if that wasn’t enough, he went on to lay hands on another person who was reportedly part of the name-calling.

Where Was Derulo’s Bodyguard?

Well, no one is sure. The assumption is a rather large man with Derulo could have been his bodyguard. However, he wasn’t putting a stop to the altercation.

Post Altercation

Following the incident, Derulo was hit with a trespassing notice. He reportedly threw the first punch, so he got off easy with this one.

Reports also show that the two individuals who suffered the assault are not pressing charges, at least now. However, there was some blood spillage, no injuries required medical attention.

It May Not Be Over For Derulo

However, the two still have the option to press charges later. So, this may not be the end of this incident.

The only thing that one can say at this moment is wow! There are so many lessons to be learned here it’s hard to choose one. But, one crucial one is it always pays dividends to keep cool in high-pressure situations. So, if anything else comes of this incident, FM Hip Hop will let you know.
