Nicki Minaj and Kim Petras Slay In The “Alone” Music Video

It’s Barbie and “Kim Petty!” The queen of rap is back at it again with another spicy feature. Nicki Minaj has hopped on German pop princess Kim Petra’s single “Alone,” which debuts at No. 55 on the Billboard Hot 100. This is the “Barbie Dreams” rapper’s 129th entry on the Hot 100 and the second time for pop princess Kim Petras.

Music Video Giving Eighties Vibes

The song samples the Eurodance hit “Better Off Alone” by Alice DeeJay. The music video has been released today, Tuesday, May 2. These two are serving looks all through the music video, and we love every second of it. The visual pays homage to classic eighties music videos. It was giving some Olivia Newton-John’s “Physical.”

Kim Petras Speaking Highly Of Nicki Minaj

This track will be on Kim Petras’ major-label debut album. The singer has opened up to Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, saying, “She (Nicki Minaj) just changed my life in so many ways with that verse, and that verse rips.” Petras has then gone on to call Minaj inspirational and the “greatest ever.”

The Queen Of Rap’s Fit

Nicki captures the screen with a bomb-slicked-back red mid-ponytail and a latex outfit. But not just any latex; it was a red patent business top and matching black pencil skirt. Minaj bounces back and forth throughout the video between this look and a black latex body con dress with black gloves. This looks especially sexy with Onika’s entire back of the dress open. Barbie had to complete the look with a side blonde pony with bangs.

Nicki Minaj Absent From The 2023 Met Gala

The “Alone” music video release comes amid Minaj’s absence from the 2023 Met Gala. She may have decided to skip the event or has been cut from the list, but she has still paid tribute to Karl Lagerfeld. The “Super Freaky Girl” rapper shared memories with the late fashion icon on social media.

#FMSpotlight: Lee Charm- “Alone” (Listen)

The new “Alone” single from Lee Charm is a psychedelic R&B composition. Chromatic scales go together with “leave me alone” vibes and various kinds of autotune.

The song’s subject is the artist being successful and consequentially willing to spend some time alone.

Very basic, as you can tell.

“I want the world to know that I am a dreamer and a fighter who dares to be himself at any means necessary,” Lee Charm also informs us.

It took me a minute to figure out what else to write about this single. Not that there’s something wrong with it; Lee Charm’s product sounds pretty decent and applicable for various parties and playlists.

It’s just that nothing is exciting enough to point out. Lyrics make sense but don’t create an overall picture in the composition. The instrumental’s chromatic scales are psychedelic but still sound basic.

Maybe the artist just was a little late with releasing his single. The web-punk cover and psychedelic instrumental would’ve been refreshing and caused much attention five-seven years ago. The “leave me alone” mood is also a little off-spot after the pandemic and having to be alone for such a while.

Lee Charm “Alone Verdict

The song is not great, though the artist is. Many music videos on YouTube are only proving the point.

Check out “Where Dey At” from 2016. You can see one of the best examples of shooting a music video using the minimum amount of resources. Thanks to the work of the cameraman and editor, an abandoned building, two people, and a car turn into a cinematographic piece of art.

Also, take a look at “Swimming.” Much more on point in terms of modern loneliness. Though Lee Charm is walking down the successful-looking yard and swims in his own pool, one can tell something saddens him. Or maybe lack of something. Or someone.

#HipHop4Her: Why Do Women Stay With The Bad Guy?

The power to stay through hell and high water seems to be embedded in the female DNA. With the exception of few females who won’t take no nonsense from their man. But whenever women find them selves in an unhealthy relationship, women often question what is making them stay. I’m sure psychologist have appointed “love” for being the reason women deal with men and their mistakes.

This may be true, but it has to do with more than just loving that person. It’s the feeling of not wanting to be alone, the aching reminder that our maternal clock is ticking, and the feeling of needing this person. Women are always so convinced that they need their man, when they actually don’t. You want him, maybe until next week, maybe forever.

If a person was to go from woman to woman, asking why women stay in unhealthy relationships there would be different reasons. There would be answers like settling, promising of change from their partner; there are children involved, and many other reasons. Whatever the reason may be, it seems that love isn’t enough to keep any relationship alive and healthy.

Staying with someone you really don’t want to be with can become a major mistake. In the end it will make you feel stuck. Down the line you wouldn’t want to regret staying with a person that didn’t make you happy. It’s entirely different if you’re trying to give him a chance to redeem his self, compared to staying and forgiving him after repeated, “mistakes.” They are no longer mistakes if it keeps happening.

Because women don’t mind giving the benefit of the doubt to their man, women slack off on telling their boyfriends how they feel. What about their behavior is bothering them. Women are so wrapped around the idea of “forever” and marriage that oftentimes we become afraid to speak up. All because women want that fairy tale ending so badly. No fairy tale should be worth your happiness.
