A$AP Rocky has won big in court with a not guilty verdict. The ASAP Mob rapper, born Rakim Mayers, was found not guilty in his high-profile 2025 shooting case.
A Los Angeles jury delivered a unanimous verdict on February 18, 2025. The decision came after a three-week trial and only three hours of deliberation.
A$AP Rocky had faced two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm. If convicted, he could have faced up to 24 years in prison.
The case involved a 2021 incident with former A$AP Mob member Terell Ephron, also known as A$AP Relli. Prosecutors claimed Rocky fired a handgun during an altercation in November 2021. However, the defense argued the gun was a prop used in self-defense.
Crucially, no physical evidence supported the prosecution’s claims. There were no fingerprints on shell casings and no weapon was recovered.
Throughout the trial, Rocky received unwavering support from Rihanna and their family. Rihanna attended court sessions with the couple’s two young sons, RZA and Riot, showcasing their family’s strength.
When the verdict was read, Rocky jumped over the bench to hug a tearful Rihanna. He thanked the jury for “saving his life” with the not-guilty verdict.
Rihanna later posted on social media, “The glory belongs to God and God alone. THANKFUL, HUMBLED BY HIS MERCY!”
Fans and the hip-hop community are celebrating Rocky’s freedom as he looks ahead to new music and projects.
