Donald Trump’s choice of lawyer to defend his honor in the Georgia election fraud case may surprise people. Renowned Atlanta-based lawyer, Drew Findling, is stepping up to the plate to try to get trump out of legal trouble. Trump’s currently battling allegations of interfering in the 2020 election, specifically in Georgia. The Fulton County District Attorney, Fani T. Willis leads the investigation.
Trump hiring such a well-known, and seemingly well-liked, local lawyer makes sense, and Drew Findling is quite popular within the hip-hop industry. The “Billion Dollar Lawyer” has represented the likes of Cardi B, Migos, Gucci Mane, and comedian Katt Williams. Rapper Offset referred to him as “the biggest lawyer in the game.” Findling also appears to not only defend rappers in court, but he also enjoys their craft as well. The lawyer and Vice journalists in tow recently attended a DaBaby concert.
Findling Holds Surprisingly Liberal Views
It may surprise some to learn Findling and Trump are political opposites, at least when it comes to abortion rights. Findling is pro-choice, according to an Instagram post he made in June. The caption said he’s “fighting to restore a woman’s right to choose, which has been destroyed by the Supreme Court.” Trump, on the other hand? Not only does Findling disagree with the mostly conservative Supreme Court, back in 2018, he was openly critical of the president. After Trump’s heated critique of LeBron James, Findling referred to him as the “racist architect of fraudulent Trump University.” He even went as far as to call the former president, “pathetic.” The lawyer addressed this, saying a difference in beliefs won’t stop him from defending Trump.
The focus on President Trump in Fulton County, Georgia is clearly an erroneous and politically driven persecution and along with my office and co-counsel, I am fully committed to defend against this injustice.
He told the New York Times last year, “We have our personal lives, and we have our personal politics, and I don’t apologize for my personal politics.” Meanwhile, Fulton County’s district attorney’s office will continue to investigate Trump and his cohorts for charges such as racketeering and “solicitation to commit election fraud.”
