It’s hard to comprehend the number of ATL hip hop tragedies we’ve seen lately. Not only an increased number of deaths in a short time, but also criminal activities. The last murder that shook the A, the death of Trouble on June 5. With all of this going on Atlanta rapper, Trinidad James, talked about how this is making an impact on the ATL culture and himself.
What Is Causing The Chaos & ATL Tragedies
One of the things that Trinidad sees as a driving force in this downward spiral in Atlanta, is that the city rose to the top of the hip hop industry quickly. and has been there for several years. In his words “there’s all types of energies, people and situations just trying to take you down.” The rapper is feeling the burden of everything poisoning his city right now. He shares how he continues to carry the ones they’ve lost with him. Especially, the last conversation he had with Trouble before his murder. He says it was a lighthearted and joking text exchange between friends.
The question a lot of people are wondering is how all of these ATL hip hop tragedies will impact the music and culture in the city? One of two things typically happens in the industry when tragedy strikes. Either it empowers artists to reach for greatness. Putting out better music than ever before. Or it can cause them to fall into a deep hole where the music just isn’t at the same energy it once was.
Let’s hope that the artists out of Atlanta follow Trinidad James‘ advice. To “keep our heads high” and push forward for the ones that are gone!
