J. Cole Ends His Short-Lived Basketball Africa Career

J. Cole has had a busy month, to say the least

As one of rap’s brightest stars, J. Cole made history with his new album, The Off-Season. All 12 songs on the album appeared on the Billboard Hot 100. Even more impressive, four appeared in the top 10. However, Cole’s musical accomplishments aren’t the only reason he’s been making headlines.

Soon after his musical success, J. Cole has decided to move on from his professional basketball career. It was announced earlier this month that he would be joining the NBA’s Basketball Africa League. He cites a “family obligation” as the reason to move on from the sport.

J. Cole’s short-lived basketball career serves as a part of sports history. As a member of the Rwanda Patriots BBC, he was a part of one of 12 teams in the league’s inaugural “season.” Over three games, he played a total of 45 minutes. He contributed 5 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists to the Patriots’ stats.

As an outspoken basketball fan, at least Cole was able to check a life goal off his bucket list by playing pro ball.
