Is this the real Halle Berry? She knows me, she likes me, she loves me!’”

Cardi B Came Through In A Huge Way.

She explained they had some issues with the song and had to get certain rights to use it. The rapper went the extra mile to make sure that they got the rights. Polo G’s Mom Shares Why He’s Worth Six Figures

At just 22, Chicago rapper Polo G has already cut his teeth as one of the biggest in the game. He’s released two acclaimed albums, and his latest, Hall of Fame, debuted on top of the Billboard 200 in June.  Since then, he’s dropped a song with Eminem, graced the cover of Rolling Stone, and announced a major U.S. tour this fall. To say Polo G’s talents are high in demand is an understatement, and his mother feels their price should match.

Standing on His Worth

Stacia Mac, Polo G’s mother and manager, revealed in an interview with Billboard she charges six figures for a Polo G performance. For Mac, the price is more than reasonable for both her son’s skill and the historic exploitation of black people in the music industry.

“We arrived at his current fee with each of our successes,” she said. “People of color are slighted. That’s a fact. What you have to do is stand firm on your worth.”

Polo G previously charged $85,000 for features in 2020 but said in a May interview with GQ that number is now $150,000.

“I’m going to keep going up on the price for sure,” the rapper said. “Because I take everything that I do seriously, so I know you gonna get a good verse out of me.”

The rapper has a contract with Columbia Records, and last year launched his own offset of the label, Only Dreamers Achieve Records (ODA). In a sweet touch, ODA shares a name with the first song Polo G ever released on YouTube.

“We chose Columbia because we knew they would throw their all into my son and he would not be shelved,” Mac shared. “They had as much riding on making him a Hip-Hop star as he had to make himself one.”

Polo G’s Complicated Rise

Polo G began rapping in his teens, growing up the second of four children in the North Side of Chicago. After gaining traction on Soundcloud in 2018, he found his first hit in early 2019 with the Lil Tjay collab “Pop Out.” Polo released his debut album, Die a Legend, in 2019, which debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200. The rest is history.

However, Polo G’s road to stardom has had bumps. As a young man trying to make it and provide for his family, Polo G saw a string of arrests in his teens after selling marijuana and stealing cars. In June of this year, Polo was arrested in Miami after police encountered weapons in his vehicle, leading to an altercation. TMZ reported that Polo G threatened multiple officers. Polo G and Stacia Mac both tweeted statements hinting the rapper may have been targeted.

Hall-of-Famer

No matter the obstacles, Polo G has still managed to find runaway success in the industry. The success of Hall of Fame led to more than just a stadium tour, and the album has gained its fair share of Grammy buzz. Though first-round voting won’t begin until October 22nd, many suspect Polo G could earn himself a statuette in January.

Though his price continues to skyrocket, Polo G’s work ethic hasn’t changed. He’s expressed excitement to finally be back on tour, and release a Hall of Fame deluxe in October. The rapper teased the project last month on Instagram Live.

Whatever Polo G has coming next, he has set the bar high. As he prepares for awards season, tour, and a new album, the rapper clearly has his eye on the prize. In fact, he shared on Twitter:

“Havin the skill to hustle is a blessin a lot of ppl don’t got it in em to survive.”

Meek Mill Sees Ten “Expensive Pain” Tracks On Billboard Hot 100

Meek Mill’s latest offering, the 18-track album Expensive Pain, has landed him ten songs on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The project marks the seventh Top 10 project of Meek’s career. Billboard announced the number yesterday afternoon via Twitter.

Expensive Pain first debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, earning 95,000 equivalent album units in the first week.

Expensive Pain, Extensive Rollout

The album came with no lack of hype. In fact, Meek mysteriously teased Expensive Pain all last month, with billboards and buses plastered with the cover art appearing worldwide. He also revealed the star-studded track list only hours before the album’s release, scrawled in multi-colored Sharpie. Expensive Pain finally dropped on October 1st. The album debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, earning 95,000 equivalent album units in its first week.

Meek proved on Expensive Pain he still has clout with the moment’s hottest artists. At the top of the list of charted singles, currently at No. 23, is “Sharing Locations” featuring Lil Baby and Lil Durk. The album also boasted contributions from Moneybagg Yo, Lil Uzi Vert, Young Thug, Kehlani and Brent Faiyaz. Meek’s collaboration with Moneybagg Yo, “Hot,” charted at No. 60 on the Hot 100.

Meek’s Turbulent Past

Meek had not released a project since 2018’s Championships, which earned him a Grammy nomination. Meek released that project in a moment of turmoil; Championships was the first album he dropped after a stint in prison related to gun and drug charges. His incarceration was widely viewed as unjust, prompting #FreeMeek to trend on social media and the rapper to release a New York Times op-ed on prisoner’s rights. Meek finally left prison in 2018, after the court overturned charges due to the credibility of a key witness. The grit and victory coursing through Championships proved his time behind bars sparked a fire within him. Now a few years into freedom, Meek advocates for fellow rappers facing incarceration, most recently Pooh Shiesty.

Expensive Pain explores Meek’s struggles in the aftermath of his battles against opps in the streets and the Pennsylvania penal system itself. Where Championships felt like an explosive victory lap, Expensive Pain is more reflective, and finds Meek grappling with wealth, fame, isolation and paranoia. A former opioid user whose been open about his “zero-tolerance” policy for pills, Meek does not shy away from themes of addiction and dependency. Though tracks like “Sharing Locations” prove the rapper always has a banger up his sleeve, Expensive Pain’s raw emotional content feels refreshing. Though Meek continues to mature, every project prove’s he’s still loyal to his Philly roots.

Drake Dominates With Top 14 Songs on Billboard Hot 100

Drake is making history yet again.

All year long, Drake has teased fans with a new album, which he shared early on would be titled “Certified Lover Boy.” Fans were nervous about the album’s quality, not only because of how long it took to drop, but because he planned on dropping right after Kanye West’s “Donda” album.

Well, the nerves can settle. According to Billboard, the “Way 2 Sexy” rapper’s latest album, Certified Lover Boy, debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart this week after generating 743.7 + million streams in the U.S.

This means Drake takes the crown for the biggest debut week of any album in over a year. Taylor Swift’s Folklore previously held the top spot, after selling 846,000 units in the first 7 days.

Certified Lover Boy, which dropped on Sept. 3, is Drizzy’s 10th number one album, adding him to a short list of artists with at least 10 number one albums on the Billboard 200 chart.

Drake’s first topped the Billboard 200 chart back in 2010, with Thank Me Later.

Not only did he have an amazing week, but Billboard’s Streaming Songs chart also shared that the top 14 songs were nearly all CLB tracks, with “Way 2 Sexy” featuring Future and Young Thug at No. 1.

Other Drake songs included in the top 14 were “Girls Wants Girls,” “Papi’s Home” and “Champagne Poetry.”

CLB nearly doubled the weekly streaming record Kanye West briefly set last week when Donda pulled in 410.8 million streams. Ye still did well enough to land at Number Two this week with 230.8 million streams. But the gap between that number and Drake’s is now the largest gap in Artists 500 history.

Congrats to Drizzy on this major milestone.

Drake Breaks Billboard Records, Gets 9 of Top 10 on Hot 100

Records are made to be broken and Drake’s wielding a sledgehammer.

In the sixty-three years of Billboard Hot 100 history, no one has ever claimed nine of ten spots on the Top 10. That is, until today. Drake has become the first artist in Billboard history to achieve this, and the first since The Beatles to secure the entire top five. That means that Drake also breaks a fifty-seven-year record, set by the legendary group in 1964.

Drake, Lord of the Charts

It’s time to talk some numbers.

At No. 1 is Drake’s “Way 2 Sexy” featuring Future and Young Thug. It’s the third time that Young Thug has made it to the top spot, and the first time for Future. To date, it has some 67.3 million streams, 7.7 million in airplay listens, and has sold 7,000 units. It’s Drake’s fifth song to debut at No. 1, following “God’s Plan”, “Nice for What”, “Toosie Slide”,  and “What’s Next”.

Taking the No. 2-5 spots are “Girls Want Girls”, “Fair Trade”, “Champagne Poetry” and “Knife Talk”. Between the four of them, they have some 205.4 million streams as of today.

The No. 6 spot goes to fellow Canadian superstar Justin Bieber, with his hit with The Kid LAROI, “Stay”.

In the No. 7-10 slots, Drake finds “In the Bible”, “Papi’s Home”, “TSU” and “Love All”. These last have gotten some 160.2 million streams, bringing Drake’s total stream count in the Top 10 to a whopping 365.6 million streams. These nine songs on the Top 10 bring Drake’s total single count on the Top 10 to 54. This makes him the top in this category, outshining Madonna, The Beatles, and Rhianna.

But what about the rest of the record?  Where does it stand?

Launching to No. 1 on the chartsCertified Lover Boy racked up some 743.6 million streams, with 613,000 album units earned. It fell just short of Taylor Swift’s Folklore, which managed to snag some 846,000 album units earned. The other eleven songs on the album found their way onto the Billboard charts. Every single song on the album has charted in the Top 40 range. This brings Drake’s total in the Top 40 range to 143 records, and 258 entries on the Top 100 altogether.

Destroyer of records

In addition to his absolute obliteration of the charts, Drake can look back on some truly amazing feats. From 2015-2017, Drake was the most-streamed artist of all time on Spotify, getting 7.6 billion streams. Hypothetically, every single person on Earth at that time listened to him at least once. In May of 2017, Drake took home thirteen microphones from the Billboard Music Awards, beating Adele’s record by one. To date, he holds 27 BMAs. In 2019, he got into the Guinness Book with the most time spent on the US singles chart (multiple singles). He can proudly say that he has spent 431 weeks, some eight years and 88 days, on the Billboard Hot 100.
