XXXTENTACION Hits 1 Billion Streams on Spotify with “Changes”

XXXTENTACION will live forever through his music

It’s been just over three years since XXXTENTACION was tragically shot and killed in Deerfield Beach, Florida. The rapper, 20 years old at the time, was the victim of an attempted robbery.

Despite his premature death, he has proven to be one of the most impactful rappers of his generation. His track “Changes” has just reached 1 billion streams on Spotify.

The piano ballad is the fourth song by XXXTENTACION to reach this mark. His tracks “Sad!,” “Moonlight,” and “Jocelyn Flores” have also surpassed the billion-stream milestone on Spotify. With this accomplishment, he posthumously finds himself in league with artists like Drake, Ed Sheeran, Billie Eilish, and Post Malone, to name a few.

More than just music

This landmark achievement is a bright spot in a controversial time. Just a few months ago, the late rapper’s estate was the subject of much drama with his brother suing his mother over it. His posthumous album releases have received criticism, with some fans thinking his family handling his music poorly.

Still, he remains one of the most celebrated rappers since his death. He’s one of many young rappers we’ve lost too early over the past few years, such as Juice WRLD and Pop Smoke. His legacy will continue to live through his music.
