Coi Leray Wants To Completely End Body-Shaming

Coi Leray has gained lots of attention in 2021. The artist has received criticism about her album delays and viral hits, “TWINNEM” and “BIG PURR.” Fans and critics also love to talk about Leray’s saucy outfits.

Speaking of Leray’s attire, she wore another scandalous outfit recently.

In September, the rapper wore a top that exposed her chest area for New York Fashion Week. Even though the outfit was safe for work, critics shamed Leray for such attire.

December 26, Leray took to TikTok to address the criticisms. In the video, the rapper dances and twerks in a bikini with the caption, “Let’s stop worrying about people’s bodies 2022 & forever.”

Shortly after, she reported the video on her Instagram with a lengthier caption.

“Don’t madder how natural she is, who her doctor is, if she has curves like cellulite, big small, round square, let’s just make it a priority to spread love and worry the fuck about yourself. Yuh. 2022 I’m excited.”

As you can see, Leray is comfortable in her body, and she wants everyone to be as well.

Coi Leray’s Career

Again, Leray has gained a mass amount of attention this year. She’s a confident person. However, that confidence comes from a place of hard work and effort.

A month ago, Leray expressed how frustrated she was with people stealing her ideas and other career obstacles. The industry exhausted her.

“I’m tired of thinking of everybody! I’m tired of people taking the credit for my ideas. Tired of being manipulated. Tired of fighting for my life,” her Instagram story said.

Leray called her situation “tiring” and “draining.” Then, she added:

Any label would love to have an artist like me. Sad man. Sad. It’s really a Mental sacrifice.”

This and Leray’s protest on body-shaming proves that she wants people to live life as free as she does.

Coi Leray Addresses Body Shaming Comments

Coi Leray wants to know why her body is always the topic of conversation on Twitter

There has been a problem with women’s bodies being a topic of conversation in many communities, specifically the music industry. Women in the past have struggled with audience perception and comments on their bodies and the marginalization they face. At the BET Awards earlier this week, Coi Leray attended wearing a bikini top and baggy pants in her typical fashion.

Is there a certain way I’m supposed to look? Help me understand”

People were quick to make comments on her body and compare it to men of similar shape, thus degrading her and making her body a talking point. Coi sent multiple tweets, one saying, “In the Bible is it a sin to be thin? I don’t understand” in response to these comments. The 2021 XXL Freshman rapper has confidence in herself and does not seem overly phased by the comments she received.

The commentary on women’s bodies is not new, especially in the hip-hop community. However, musicians like Coi Leray, Billie Eilish, Lizzo, and Cardi B are making moves to set new standards. This will hopefully put an end to the unrealistic standards the music industry has for women in 2021. We love to see empowered women taking over the industry and changing stigmas!
