#FMSpotlight: Cilla Raie – “Longtime” (Watch)

“Longtime” by Cilla Raie is her most vulnerable track yet. Heightened by a sultry UK garage/R&B instrumental that’s kissed by a guitar loop, the two-minute and twenty-eight-second song finds the R&B singer confidently opening up about her feelings toward a man she sees herself with. XVR Blck produced the beat.

Furthermore, Cilla Raie hints that her lover should make things official. She sings about waiting patiently to be hand and hand with him. Her love is something he can’t ignore. The Reconnected songstress assures him that their union will be worthwhile.

Although he’s hard to reach, she wants to meet him halfway. Without his presence, there seems to be something missing.

Using her dreamy vocals, she says:

I’ve been waiting for you long time/To get it, make it like its all mine/Can’t nobody do you right,” and “I feel like I’m missing what I really need and/I want what I can’t have/But what you’re what I need.

The music video, directed by Jay Parpworth, is set up in a living room with a groovy aesthetic. Throughout the visual, she dons several fashion statements. Subsequently, one scene sees Cilla Raie teleporting in the same room three times. Another one captures her speaking on a mint green telephone. As it closes, Cilla Rae strikes a pose as warm shades of orange, blue, and red touch the curtains and walls. All-in-all, the music video is reminiscent of pure old-school vibes.

Cilla Rae says about the record,

“Longtime was written with such ease, and deep into the night, it represents a new era of growth for me. Which is a long time coming, giving grown woman vibes and stepping into my divine feminine energy, going after what I want with no fear”.

#FMSpotlight: Cilla Raie – “Open For Love (feat. Tiffany Evans)” (Watch)

Watch: Cilla Raie – “Open For Love (feat. Tiffany Evans)”

Cilla Raie and Tiffany Evans express that they’re ready to give their all to a special someone in “Open For Love.” The R&B-esque beat is backed by a booming bassline, futuristic synths, and the songstresses’ distinctive singing styles.

At the beginning of the record, Cilla Raie fights between her mind and heart. On all accounts, she’s deciding if she should keep her walls up or tear them down.

Tapping into her contralto register, she communicates

Stay on your grind/Stay out ya mind/You don’t need this no more I keep on telling them I ain’t that deep/But am I lying to myself lately?

After, Cilla Raie chooses to give love a go with a man she’s falling hard for. She can’t deny the chemistry they share.

During Tiffany Evan’s verse, she admits to being head over heels for her beau. The “Promise Ring” crooner told herself that she’d be cautious. Yet, instead, her lover showed that time didn’t need to stand still. By displaying patience, understanding, and compassion — it was easier for her to be less guarded. She sings,

Oh look at you got me fallin/I said I would takе my time But you moved on it, got me on edge Now all I ever want is you.

Towards the song’s closing, the duo speaks on not looking for love. Instead, they’ll let it find them. Until that day comes, they’ll continue elevating and giving themselves that TLC.

I don’t wanna find myself another man, but I been feeling like I want somebody to touch/I can’t be exclusive/Got too much too loose when money on my mind boy/i’ve been working too hard.”

Listen: Cilla Raie – “Motives”

Cilla Raie declares to her beau that she’s putting her heart on the line for true love in her song “Motives.” The instrumental draws from the early 2000s and bedroom R&B, a perfect pairing for Raie’s crystalized vocal play.

Lyrically, Raie sets the record straight with her man. She sings about him not knowing her worth and overlooking her selfless devotion. Before going to the next level, Raie needs to see his actions change.

She expresses, “I’m here right now/But you don’t recognize/You don’t realize it,” along with “Oh, I see who you are, but I still take a risk/To see just how you are then we can make a plan, plan.”

Before the song ends, Raie admits that she’d like for her lover to open up. No matter how much time he needs, she’s willing to be patient.

Cilla Raie discovered that music was her true calling at 14-years-old while working alongside producer DaV-inche (Stormzy, Skepta, Wiley) and Jackie Davison MBE (Wayne Hector). In 2014 she released her first-ever debut EP, produced by Sillky (Mabel, Teedra Moses, Craig David) and The Arcade (Doja Cat, Khalid, Migos). Then, she went on a national school tour with legislation group UK Music. Previously, the singer has gotten support from MOBO Awards, BBC1xtra, and Link Up TV.
