Skeese created “Ground Level” at a key point in his career, and he more than rises to the challenge, delivering his biggest and best effort yet while simultaneously rising higher.

“Ground Level” highlights Jae Skeese’s growth as an artist, combining real emotion and narrative with advanced production. The album features high-profile collaborations with Big K.R.I.T., Dave East, Sauce Walka, Jay Worthy, Project Pat, Smoke DZA, Statik Selektah, Che Noir, Lloyd, and Ski Beatz, who provide an unmistakable dynamic variety to the project.

This rising artist appears to have previously collaborated with a number of well-known performers. As an emerging artist, this is a fantastic way to obtain notice. Furthermore, all of the musicians on Jae’s album have worked in the music industry for a while. As a result, they may be able to give significant insight into how they rose to such prominence, as well as the complexities of being a musician.

“Ground Level” Embodies Jae Skeese’s Mindset

“Ground Level” is a portrait of Jae Skeese, reflecting both his current position and the highs and lows of his journey that formed and affected him, all given with Skeese’s creative wordplay. Presentation is essential, whether in the form of words or images. If you want visitors to know more about your project and be interested in it, you must make an effort to do so. That is how you get noticed and increase popularity.

“”Ground Level” is me taking the next step from coming up out of the basement and building on top of the foundation I have been laying the last three years; finally being able to say okay, I’ve laid the foundation. I’m here now, how many more levels can I reach now that I’m finally at the first floor,” Jae Skeese contemplates. “Everyone has a starting point, whether you are a med school student, an NFL prospect, or even a manager at Dunkin Donuts. The Ground Level mindset is a testament to overcoming obstacles and reaching new heights, while staying grounded and remembering that there are always new levels to achieve.”

The project’s opening track, “Situated,” which features Sauce Walka and Big K.R.I.T., is now accessible and establishes the mood for “Ground Level.” Additionally, the “Situated” video is now accessible below!

From “Abolished Uncertainties” To “Ground Level”

When we reach a particular point in life, we often reflect on how we got here and where we are today. Jae Skeese looks back at his journey:

“I remember when I dropped my Drumwork debut, “Abolished Uncertainties,” (2023) last year right after “Pain Provided Profit: (his collaborative album with Conway The  Machine) it felt like the Bills just won the Super Bowl- FINALLY!”

After years of working hard, grinding, and forging his own way with challenges that were seemingly stacked against him, Skeese eventually released his debut “Drumwork” album, following one with one of hip hop’s best rappers. It makes no difference who does not support you; the only one who can stand in the way of your advancement is you. Jae is an example of that since he managed to survive despite the obstacles piled against him.

“But what I learned after dropping “Abolished Uncertainties” is that that album was just another brick in the wall, said Jae. “I was building another piece to the foundation. “Ground Level” is a reflection of that. I highlight things I’ve been through, talk about the people I’ve lost, my mindset as I’ve elevated to the position you see me in today, how people have changed, my reasons for why I want to elevate in life and of course I talk about the things that make me, me.”

Albums that convey a meaningful message always earn recognition as masterpieces. Everyone has a story, as we all come from different backgrounds, and no one can tell our stories better than ourselves.

Jae Skeese continues to grow his reputation and prominence in the culture, and with Ground Level, he moves up a level! Where were you when you discovered the ability to level up? Certainly, many of us are heading in that way right now.

FMHipHop New Music Weekend Roundup

It’s Monday, so I hope you were able to catch up on the new music that dropped over the weekend.  Don’t worry if you didn’t, FMHipHop has you covered!  We all know Saweetie dropped her EP, The Single Life, on Friday.  The 6-track EP has been highly anticipated as fans want to hear her reactions to all the gossip about her in the industry.  Looks like she has a bit of tea to spill.  But she isn’t the only artist to drop new music.  Let’s see who else put out new projects over the weekend!

Dave East & DJ Drama-Book of David

Dave East & DJ Drama finally link up for a Gangsta Grillz production.  The Book of Daviddropped over the weekend.  This is the second tape of the year for the Harlem rapper.  In March, he released his EP, HDIGH.  Drama sure has been busy after dropping a trio of mixtapes last month.  He intends to drop his album, I’m Really Like That, soon as he has teased a clip on social media.  Book of David has 17 tracks and the only features on this tape are Buda & Grandz.  They handled the production on the album.  We like this duo.  It was only a matter of time before Dave East and DJ Drama linked up!

Roddy Ricch-Feed tha Streets III

Roddy Ricch is back with his Feed tha Streetsseries.  After announcing the project last year and dropping a few singles, the third installment is finally here.  The 15-track mixtape only features Lil Durk and Ty Dolla $ign.  Just like Dave East, this will also be the Compton rapper’s second drop of this year.  In June, he released The Big 3 EP, which consisted of three tracks.  Roddy Ricch said the biggest thing he wanted to express with this project is that he wanted to have fun with it.  He wants himself and his fans to enjoy the music wherever they are.

Rod Wave-Jupiter’s Diary: 7 Day Theory

Since Rod Wave has been in the game, he hasn’t slowed down.  He is back with his second drop of 2022 with Jupiter’s Diary: 7 Day Theory.  In August, he released his album, Beautiful MindJupiter’s Diary: 7 Day Theory consists of 8 tracks with no features.  It’s interesting that he dropped this tape, while on tour for his August album.  Maybe some of the fans will get to hear him perform songs from the new EP.  I’m sure he’ll have a treat for his fans along the way.

Is Fabolous Dropping A New Project?

Last week, Fabolous dropped another single!  This time he grabbed Harlem native Dave East as they made “Bach to Bach”.  The song also comes with a video directed by WillC and Fab himself.  You can also spot Meek Mill in the video as he makes a cameo.  Fabolous has been on a roll lately.  The Brooklyn rapper is still proving he has bars for days.  Last month, he put out “Rich Hustle” featuring another Harlem rapper, Jim Jones.  Fab also shot a video to this song as well.  The Young OG has been keeping it strictly New York as well.   He tapped French Montana for “Say Less”, another single for the Summer.  It’s safe to say Fab has been working, working.  We, as fans are getting treat after treat.

https://youtube.com/shorts/H1AGOIN8dkg?feature=share

Freestyle Fab

Before the flurry of singles, Fab put out a few freestyles as well.  First, he did a freestyle over Amerie’s hit song, “1 Thing”.  Then, the rap legend followed that up with his “Easy” freestyle, which came with a video too.  Fab himself directed the video alongside Marco Sandoval and there are more cameos in this one that includes Fivio Foreign and DaniLeigh.  Fab also did another freestyle, this time with his 6-year-old son Jonas on Father’s Day.  They both rapped over Drake’s “Champagne Poetry” beat with Dad labeling it “Apple Juice Poetry”.  Jonas just might be following in his dad’s footsteps.  That’s how Fabolous became who he is, countless freestyles in the beginning of his career.  Jonas may also be a producer as his dad has dropped visuals of Jonas using production equipment on social media.  He is well on his way!

We Outside

Fab has been busy outside of the booth too.  He made an appearance at All Elite Wrestling as he walked out with one of the challengers.  He sat ringside to watch the match with DJ Whoo Kid.  Fab was also spotted at DJ Khaled album release party for ‘God Did’.  Fab usually drops something when it gets cold out.  It looks like he’s looking to drop something towards the Winter.  We’ll wait and see!

Lloyd Banks Reveals Tracklist For “The Course of The Inevitable 2”

Lloyd Banks, a former member of G-Unit, has revealed the tracklist for his upcoming album “The Course of the Inevitable 2.” The album will be released on Jul 15.

Lloyd Banks is Back For More

The album is a sequel to Banks’ previous project from the last year, which Banks crafted after more than a decade away from the mic. “The Course of the Inevitable 2” offers 14 tracks with features from artists like Dave East, Jadakiss, Conway The Machine, Benny The Butcher, Vado, and Tony Yayo, who was one of G-Unit’s founding fathers.

With a lineup like this, fans can expect top-of-the-line lyricism.

A post shared by Lloyd Banks (@lloydbanks)

Lloyd Banks plans to deliver again as he did last year with “The Course of the Inevitable.” It featured rappers like Freddie Gibbs, Roc Marciano, Styles P, Benny, and Vado.

Before The Comeback

Before returning to the game last yearLloyd Banks released his famous album “The Hunger for More 2” in 2010, featuring Yayo, Styles P, Pusha T, Kanye West, and many more. He wouldn’t release another album for nearly 11 years. In 2018, 50 Cent announced that Banks was no longer a member of G-Unit. The group disbanded later that year.

As expected, fans wondered why Lloyd Banks took so long to release a project. Many new talented rappers have emerged within the past decade, but Lloyd hasn’t been completely forgotten.

Last weekend, Lloyd Banks reminded everyone on Twitter that his peers have never discredited him.

Fans are ecstatic to see Lloyd back in the game, especially since he will work with fellow old-school rappers like Jadakiss and Yayo. Hyping up the fas, Lloyd Banks released a single titled “Fell in Love” on Friday, Jul 8.

What do you think of Banks’ comeback?

Kendrick Lamar, Dave East, And “South Park” Duo Plan The Movie

Kendrick Lamar and Dave East teamed up with the authors of “South Park” (Matt Stone and Trey Parker) to create a new comedy movie.

Deadline’s source says the newfound team signed with Paramount Pictures. However, other companies added to the production. Kendrick Lamar and Dave East’s creative agency, pgLang, and Stone and Parker’s, Park County, collaborated with Paramount.

https://twitter.com/_theghettomonk/status/1481763594006155270?s=20

Paramount Pictures’ President & CEO, Brian Robbins, claimed that the corporate “look[s] forward to ushering in the first theatrical collaboration from these creative visionaries.” The company also hopes the new movie will help with “galvanizing audiences worldwide around a powerful storytelling experience.”

The Script Shocks Kendrick Lamar’s Fans

The author of the script is Vernon Chatman. Variety’s source claims that the “South Park” co-writer and four-time Emmy winner’s hand will “depict the past and present coming to a head.” The movie’s general summary is the main character’s story, surrounding a young Black man. His job is “interning as a slave re-enactor at a living history museum.” The plot twist occurs, once the hero “discovers that his white girlfriend’s ancestors once owned his.”

The crowd was quite surprised by the news on the upcoming movie plot. Many went on social media to share.

https://twitter.com/iTerryTommy/status/1481740334568820736?s=20

While the movie plot is an alluring one, the A-team production is sure to please. After all, Kendrick’s writing earned the Pulitzer Prize. In hindsight, South Park’s vexed comedy earned its creators the “open-source jihad” in 2010.

Kendrick Works With The “South Park” Team Instead Of Working On The Album?

While Kendrick Lamar is trying new mediums, his fans languish from waiting for the artist’s new album. Some music-related news came from the Hip-Hop legend in August.

Back then, Lamar created the oklama.com website to let the crowd know he’s parting ways with the TDE label and working on the new stuff. “As I produce my final TDE album, I feel joy to have been a part of such a cultural imprint after 17 years,” Lamar wrote. “May the Most High continue to use Top Dawg as a vessel for candid creators.”

“See you soon enough,” Kendrick wrote in the end. Or “oklama,” as the electronic letter signature claims.

Dave East Collaborates with Tracklib and The Council

Dave East, the 33-year-old emcee, and actor from Harlem, New York, is creating powerful partnerships in upcoming ventures.

Dave East’s Placement Competition with Tracklib

East is teaming up with Tracklib to host the Dave East Placement Competition. It’s part of the company’s Beat Battle series. Tracklib’s popularity is rising being that they’re the only beat library for producers. The company touts over 65,000 songs in their digital repertoire. They have partnered with other notable musicians, such as Pete Rock, Jim Jones, and Maino.

The contest rules state that producers will “sample one song or multitrack on Tracklib”. They will also make sure that it is “tailor-made for Dave East.” Dave East mentioned this in an interview with Tracklib saying:

“I’ve got an old soul. So I’m a big fan of older music. Motown, 80s R&B, 70s—all of that…so when you hear it on an up-to-date beat, sampled, it brings a nostalgic feel to it.”

This partnership is not only a strategic move for Tracklib and East but also for the upcoming producers who place in the competition’s top three. According to the Tracklib blog, first prize includes a studio session in New York with Dave East. It also includes a track released as a song by Dave East with publishing credits. Since East is the final judge, these aspiring producers will be on his radar. In addition, they will receive public shout-outs on his socials. In an interview with HipHopDX, the emcee stated, “Honestly, I look at this as an opportunity to create a relationship with a producer that goes beyond just this situation right here. Somebody that I could really work with, that I could build with…I just feel like this is the perfect opportunity for upcoming producers to get next to somebody like me…” The contest will end on Sunday, January 23rd, 2022. Tracklib will announce the winners on their blog and on social media in March 2022.

The Council

The Council supergroup group photo
Source: Instagram

The council is Dave East, Vado, and Lloyd Banks. This is a union that Vado says, “is three of da city’s illest MCs wanting to be a part of reclaiming back NY hip-hop.” The Council’s first feature was on Vado’s song Respect the Jux, which shares the title to the movie with which the track is associated. Aside from this song by Vado, Banks and East are present in features across Vado’s album. The album release date is December 31st. As it seems thus far, it is all respect, unity, and creativity between the group, as Vado posted under his most recent picture of himself and East riding together on Instagram, “treat ur brother as u treat urself -Da Council.”

Dave East Teases New Project with Harry Fraud

Dave East & Harry Fraud announce their joint project “HOFFA” is coming July 30th!

Dave East has been for the last few months gearing up for a new project coming this summer. Over the last few weeks, more has been revealed from this project. Dave East announced in Early June that the project will be entirely produced by Harry Fraud.

Harry Fraud is a famous producer, known for his soulful and smooth production style.

Many may know him for producing projects like Benny The Butcher’s The Plugs I Met 2 and Curren$y’s The Outrunners.

In addition, this project is said to be curated by Griselda’s very own Westside Gunn. East recently connected with Gunn at the Buffalo Kids Gallery to unveil the album’s artwork, a painting of East brought to life by a local artist named Mariella Angela. Moreover, Angela says she drew inspiration from the project’s title HOFFA, using a real picture of Jimmy Hoffa to sketch the painting.

After weeks of teasing, Dave East and Harry Fraud made it official that the project was coming on July 30th.

The duo dropped a video trailer for the project yesterday. The tracklist and features have not been revealed but we are very excited for the NY star’s return to form.

#FMSpotlight: Rook’s Work Is Celebrated In Both The Film & Music Industry

Rook is an artist of versatility. Between his melodic and rap deliveries, he speaks on relatable topics in a refreshing manner. Likewise, his beat selection takes inspiration from various genres. Given these points, we can say he’s the next artist that’ll top the charts.

Outside of music, he’s a video director with motion picture size dreams. Rook is proclaimed the leading video director within the hip-hop community. Artists call on him to revive visuals. Moreso, to bring them to life. His talent knows no bounds!

After graduating from film school in Florida, Rook signed to an independent label. Due to the rise of college internet rap, his career propelled even further. Yet, this was only the beginning. In turn, Rook scored a growing fanbase in South Florida.

Rook & Charlamagne Tha God

Fast forward, and he went back home to Connecticut in pursuit of starting his own video production company. After grinding and spending years behind the lens working with Rick RossSmoke DZAA BoogieDave East, and more, Rook has now decided to be the camera’s focal point.

In 2017, he released his EP Movn Pictures. A year later, he released his EP Shoot Tú Kill. Amidst building buzz in CT, he joined fellow hometown emcees Chris Webby and Anoyd in the 75-date Raw Thoughts Tour, which took him across the country. Now, he’s prepping for 2022. He’s got music in the works and is a director for Blanksquare Productions in Los Angeles.

His single last year, “sundown,” seemingly corresponds with the summer vibes that’ll live on for a lifetime. The afro-beat hip-hop instrumental is kissed by an acoustic guitar. Using a singsong flow, the musician speaks about a budding relationship that he’s fallen deep into.

At the beginning of the song, he vocalizes

You’re tryna find my tempo/I don’t wanna keep it simple with you/Tell you my goals; I could kick it with you.”

As the song continues, he expresses his hustle and how it’s earned him some fortune and a loyal fanbase. But not everyone is in agreeance with his busy schedule.

Life been a movie, so I keep on shooting/Lately I been throwing this paper like I’m polluting.”

Then, he details how his wife’s family doesn’t see him the same. But, regardless, they are twin flames.

Rook

But we know the truth, and we don’t let no one confuse it. I want you close to me.”

In the second verse, he details his girls’ frustration with his process of elevating his career. Ultimately, she wants him to add her to his plans.

And she told me to make time/So fed up she don’t even wanna dine.”

After, he questions if she’d be with him through any and everything.

If I only had a dollar, would you still say that’s fine?

Conclusively, he wants to wife her up. There’s an anonymous songstress who sings from the female’s POV at the end.

Make sure to check out Rook to stay posted on what he drops next.

Meek Mill Releases New Song with Special Guests

Meek Mill Teamed Up with Bobby Shmurda and Dave East in the Music Video for His Latest Single

On May 31, Meek Mill released a fast-flow, hard-hitting single titled “Flamerz Flow.” In the song, Meek details his traumas and successes in the short song. Besides him is Bobby Shmurda, who was recently released from prison. Dave East is also seen showing his support in the video.

“Started with an ounce, had twenty million by the time I’m thirty / I was in and out deep in that field where n***** die by thirty”

The song is a rapid-fire expression of Meek Mill’s struggle and upbringing. His lyrics emphasize his past and desire to stay out of jail and legal troubles now that he has success. With Bobby in the video, it’s safe to say that the two rappers experience some of the same struggles. It’s clear that Meek Mill wants his audience to hear these struggles now more than ever.

“Condo in Tribeca, got my mom in Jersey. I wish death on anything that threaten me or try to hurt me.”

This release followed Meek Mill’s series of tweets this weekend where he expressed his frustration with the media. Meek Mill had announced his efforts to help a man with a life sentence gain freedom from prison. To his dismay, he trended on Twitter at the time for a tweet he sent the day before. The tweet had an odd message involving vibrating women’s panties. He was quick to come at fans and online sources for only talking about negative or funny things he does, rather than important things such as freeing Eric Riddick, who had spent nearly 30 years in prison.
