Expanding on all horizons…
Travis Scott has been on a major franchising grind in the past year. After teaming up with McDonalds, then releasing his own alcoholic seltzer, La Flame’s next move is his most sophisticated yet. That’s right, he is now teamed up with Dior’s Kim Jones to release a new collection.
The “Cactus Jack Dior” collection is a set of men’s wear that is coming out in summer 2022. The colors range from a bright green, soft pink, and plenty of shades of white, something Dior calls “sun bleached.” Beyond those standout designs, there are also plenty of sleek, fully black outfits; one of which Travis wears at the runway debut.
The runway reveal for this collection is simply art. Taking place in the most Travis Scott-esque setting possible, the runway is a large desert filled with cacti and Travis’ beloved psychedelic mushrooms. Near the front, the set design becomes more Dior-esque, with big flowers and a garden entrance over it, labeled “CJ,” for Cactus Jack.
Most exciting, is the two new Travis songs playing during the 15 minute runway. At two minutes in, a song featuring James Blake and Westside Gunn plays. Not only is the crossover between Travis and Gunn a huge moment in hip-hop, it proves that Westside Gunn is truly at the pinnacle of art of all kinds. The second track comes in at about the nine minute mark. It has no features, but maintains the same eerie and psychedelic rock atmosphere of the first track and the overall setting. Whether or not these will appear on Travis’ next album, Utopia, is beyond us at the moment.
When it rains, it pours!
Fans received word of this collab from Travis posting one of the designs on Instagram. The shirt, not seen on the runway, has the late Pop Smoke on it. Obviously due to his hit song “Dior,” Travis helps Pop Smoke immortalize his affiliation with the brand and brings further honor to his name.
Between the highly coveted Pop Smoke t-shirt, countless other stylish threads and new tracks, Mr. Scott continues to prove himself to be a cultural icon.
