Listen: Steven Malcolm – “Fuego (R3HAB Remix) ft. Shaggy

Incorporating genres like hip-hop, pop, gospel, and dancehall into his overall musical styling, Steven Malcolm has established himself as a distinctive artist in the rapshere.

Steven Malcolm’s creative direction has not only garnered him over thirty-one streams, but it also gained him a spot on Spotify’s New Music Friday playlist and several nominations for GMA’s Dove Awards. Case in point, Steven Malcolm’s fresh approach to each record leaves listeners on edge for his forthcoming tracks. Lyrically, the rapper strives to motivate and make others aware of what’s happening in the world.

“I’m an ambitious dream chaser who lives to tell the world about truth through my craft,” he adds.

The 29-year-old hip-hop artist from the Midwest began his musical journey when many of his friends insisted that he come and hang out at the studio. After weeks of them asking him, Steven Malcolm went, recorded some tunes, and instantly fell in love. Likewise, he decided to use his Jamaican roots to take his newfound musical delivery to new heights! Before recording, Steven Malcolm likes to vibe to the record. He’s inspired by his family and wants to give them the best things in life.

“A glass of wine and candles sometimes is a must! Cereal and Monsters are too for all-nighters! Just have to get the vibe right and get the creative flow going,” he says.

Although COVID-19 came abruptly, Steven Malcolm remained optimistic, putting all his concerns into God’s hands. “At the end of the day, He’s still in control,” he declares.

More recently, Steven Malcolm debuted a remix to his song “Fuego (R3HAB Remix),” which was reconstructed by DJ R3HAB. The song also features Shaggy, who is known for his hit songs “It Wasn’t Me,” “Boombastic,” “In The Summertime,” “Oh Carolina,” and “Angel.”

In a nutshell, “Fuego (R3HAB Remix)” is a feel-good EDM offering paired with reggae and hip-hop elements. Throughout the song, Steven Malcolm speaks about his unwavering work ethic, saying, “I’m on a whole new level/So keep it muy sosiego.” Subsequently, he’s stating that if you have bragging rights, flaunt it. Sometimes, as human beings, we don’t give ourselves enough credit for the work we put in towards our end-goal. But, Steven Malcolm is here to assure you that it’s okay to take pride in your progress.

“The concept is to be passionate and on fire with whatever you believe or do! So on fire that it becomes contagious! From the grind, to the work ethic, to who you are and represent; be on fire about it!” he adds.

Elsewhere, Steven Malcolm basks in his success. “Came up from that Bando/And put in work like Rambo,” he raps. Steven Malcolm’s favorite line goes, “I got work all on the table.”

His feature, Shaggy, uses Jamaican Patois to say that there’s “Nuh way in hell I mek dem control me.”

Aside from this, the musical icon speaks about how he sticks to the grind. “Mi money fi wire, come straight from the bay, yeah/When mi do business, no business or yuh be payin’ me.”

“R3hab took the masterpiece that was there and did his ting! Once I heard it, I knew he blacked out, so whatever the process was, I’m not mad at it!” Steven Malcolm says about the song’s creative process.

Expect Steve Malcolm to debut an EP soon along with two visuals! “I’m always trying to outdo myself, and with these next ones, I want them to be groundbreaking,” he says.
