Dr. Dre’s Charitable Contributions To Education

To begin construction on a new $200-million campus, Dr. Dre has donated $10 million to Compton High School. Rightfully, the school is renaming its new performing arts center, the “Andre ‘Dr. Dre’ Young Performing Arts Center.”

New Features

Furthermore, a brand-new academic building on the new campus will accommodate roughly 1,800 students. The center will also feature a modern gym, an aquatic center, a football field, and a track.

In addition to Centennial High, Dre attended Fremont High before dropping out. He mentioned how things would have been different if better resources were available in his speech.

“I’ve always wondered how much further ahead I might have been had the resources I needed in school were available,” he said at the ceremony.

“If I had learned more about the business industry, I would have saved myself [an] extreme amount of time, money and most importantly, [made] a lot of friendships.”

The new campus will open in 2025.

Besides the donation to the high school, Dre also worked with Jimmy Iovine to open a magnet public school in South Los Angeles. In addition to donating $70 million to USC to establish a new academy.

“This city is special, and young people living in it are special,” Dre said on Saturday.

Dre Brags About His Daughter’s Acceptance To USC

Actresses Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman were arrested in October 2019 after discovering a major scam involving them. They paid for their kids to get into the top schools and falsified their grades and achievements. This proves how fortunate some people are. Dr. Dre joked that he did not have to spend any time behind bars to ensure his daughter’s acceptance to USC, adding that she made it on her own. In contrast, it was quickly brought to the public’s attention that Dre donated $70 million to the university a few years ago. Dre has since removed the post.

He shared a photo of his daughter, declaring that she would be attending USC soon. “My daughter got accepted into USC all on her own. No jail time!!!” he wrote. While his daughter, Truly Young, maybe a bright star, Dre’s fans reminded him that he should probably not boast so loudly. According to Vulture, he and Jimmy Iovine donated $70 million to establish the USC Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy for Arts, Technology, and the Business of Innovation in 2013.

Kanye West Recruits Top HS Basketball Talent for DONDA Academy

Kanye West’s to-do list never seems to end. In the last two months, he’s dropped DONDA, produced for Ghostface Killah, dealt with Chris Brown, bought new properties on two continents, and set himself on fire. Indeed, it seems the right time for him to add another item to the list: start a prep school.

West announced back in September that he has been designing a school in California. While details were few and far between, we can now start to see it take shape. The prep school will be located in Simi Valley, California, per the Simi Valley Acorn.

DONDA Academy will host sixty students, grades K-12, tuition-free. The school is to be fitted with all the necessities of a modern prep school. In a tweet from September, the DONDA Academy Twitter account gave a brief description of the school’s educational mission. It describes itself as “the intersection between faith and innovation of the future,” promising “an education that will last in the ever-changing world.”

But first things first: build a legendary prep school basketball team.

DONDA Academy domination

While the DONDA Academy has yet to name a head coach, the powerhouse team is starting to come together. The newly acquired lineup consists of five-star Class of 2023 guard Robert Dillingham, four-star 2022 guard Zion Cruz, four-star forward Jalen Hooks, and 2024 forward Jakhi Howard.

Joining them may be other high school legends like five-star 2022 center Kyle Filipowski and four-star 2023 forward Gus Yalden. Both Filipowski and Yalden changed their Instagram profile pictures to black, in league with some of the other commits in a nod to the DONDA album cover.

Once assembled, the dream team will stand as formidable competition to its league rivals, the Sierra Canyon School. Sierra Canyon is known throughout the country as a high school basketball juggernaut, featuring Amari Bailey and Bronny James.
