Jordan Peele has announced a brand new terror, starring Get Out lead, Daniel Kaluuya, TV star, Keke Palmer, and ‘Walking Dead’ celeb, Steven Yeun

Comedic genius turned horror-film director, Jordan Peele, dropped the poster for his next terrifying film, NOPE, this past Thursday on Twitter. The movie is set to come out exactly a year from this date, July 22nd, 2022.

With only a few words on the poster, it features an ominous dark cloud floating above a dimly-lit town. The town? Surrounded by large mountains. The cloud? As big as can be. And, to make matters even more horrifying, it has a long kite string dangling out from the bottom of it.

Although plot details are being kept under tight lock, the film will be produced by Jordan Peele’s own production company, Monkeypaw Productions, and can only be viewed in theatres.

The film comes three years after Jordan Peele’s, Us

Fans speculate the title comes from light-hearted jokes about the Black community: saying “nope” and running away whenever they hear or see something scary. Though some say the title is a simple word to sum up everyone’s views on 2020.

Indeed, tons of fans and celebrities alike anxiously wait for the trailer announcement. Like Issa Rae commented on Instagram after the poster drop,

“Can’t. Wait.”

Coke Daniels’ “Karen” Grabs Headlines as a Possible Rip Off of Jordan Peele’s “Get Out!”

Daniels’ “Karen” is trending on social media, and not for a good reason.

A few days ago, a trailer for Coke Daniels’ suspense thriller “Karen” was released on social media. The hype was unbelievable. Unfortunately, the hype has nothing to do with anticipation for Daniels’ film. Things turned nasty as social media enthusiasts tore the movie to shreds. The masses detest “Karen.” And this seems to be a concurrent sentiment.

“…let me know if there’s a petition or GoFundMe to stop Karen from actually releasing. I got five on it.”

One primary reason for the uproar is the claim that Daniels rips off Peele’s formula. And Daniel does not outright deny the allegations. He rather digs the publicity. In fact, he sees the comparison as a compliment and urges the social media warriors to keep it coming. After all, no publicity is bad publicity.

Karen is a BET original film with a simple plot.

A white woman, known as “Karen,” is terrorizing her Black neighbors. That’s it in a nutshell. Peele’s Get Out is more substantive, offering an in-depth exploration into interracial relationships, privilege, and fears of organ harvesting in the Black community. There are the themes of prejudice and race relations in both, but a plethora of films covers those themes.

The ire over Daniel’s film raises so many questions!

PC: https://dnyuz.com/

Is Daniels stealing Peele’s formula? Or did he use Peele’s formula as inspiration? If it is a knockoff, is it okay that another black director creatively drives the film? Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Peele once made this comment about Get Out, that

“He set out to make a movie that exposed “the lie” of a post-racial America, one that grew after the election of Mr. Obama.”

Coke Daniels had this to say about his film Karen.

“With the cold hearted murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery (to name a few) I felt it necessary at this point to use my voice to speak truth to power and move conversations forward as it relates to social injustices, racism, and other inequalities people of color face daily in this country.

Now, given the two statements, we must be our own judges in this matter.

Peele is yet to comment on the new film. The verdict on whether “Karen” is theft of Peele’s formula is still out. However, there is no shortage of poorly written or imagined films. Whether this falls in one of those categories is in the eye of the beholder. There is no release date yet. Until then, you can watch the trailer and draw your own conclusions.

#FM Trends: Jordan Peele’s “Candyman” Trailer Drops

Jordan Peele Might Have Another One with “Candyman”

80s and 90s babies might jumped for joy or horror after watching the Candyman trailer. The latest film is the franchise will act as a sequel to the 1992 classic.  Jordan Peele will act as a producer and wrote the screenplay. Brooklyn’s own Nia DaCosta will be in the director’s chair. She is known for her breakout film Little Woods and the British television series Top Boy. DaCosta also co-wrote the screenplay with Peele and Win Rosenfeld. Candyman is set to be released in theaters in June 12,2020.

Candyman is in Good Hands with Jordan Peele

Peele might be the leader of the horror movie renaissance. Get Out  (2017) was a cinema masterpiece that you had to see because everyone was talking about it. 2 years later, he dropped US to much fan fare and beat the sophomore jinx that plagues many directors. Other movies in the genre like It (2017), A Quiet Place (2018), and Halloween (2018) have redefined the genre. Most horror reboots and sequels are terrible, I have faith in Jordan Peele. He might be the only person to treat the source material with respect. The first Candyman had certain elements like Get Out and Us that Peele and DaCosta could further explore. Bringing the film series back to Chicago was essential. The Candyman’s effect on the Windy City residents was a major subplot of the film.

What We Know About the Candyman?

So what do we know about the Candyman reboot? First Tony Todd will reprise his role the Candyman/ Daniel Robitalle. Cassie Kramer will play Helen Lyle, who was played by Virginia Madsen in the original. Helen Lyle was the protagonist from the first film that was turned into a Candywoman. Vanessa Estelle Williams will reprise her role as Anne-Marie McCoy. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will play Anthony McCoy, an artist who lied under the Candyman’s  care as an infant.

#FMTrends: Jordan Peele’s “Us” Poster Release

Jordan Peele

The story behind Jordan Peele’s new horror flick Us

Jordan Peele is most widely known for being one half of the comedy duo “Key and Peele”. However, in the past couple of years Peele has seemed to crack the code of the movie industry. In 2017, he released the hit horror film Get Out. He was praised by critics for his political undertones and ability to terrify deeper than just a jump scare. Earlier this week, Peele released a new look at his brand new film Us.
