24kGoldn Announces New Single “Coco” With DaBaby

24kgoldn (@24kgoldn) has taken the world by storm. Although he’s been around for a few years, he made his big break this year with his song “Mood” with Iann Dior (@ianndior). “Mood” lost its number one spot on the charts this week, but 24kgoldn has kept the momentum going with the announcement of his new single “Coco”. The song will be released sometime later this week and features DaBaby.

His other past hits like “Valentino” have proven that he is a hitmaker, and he mixes the pop sound with his rap tunes perfectly. He was featured in XXL Freshman Freestyle, where he came through with a two-minute display of his smooth singing and clever lyrics. He proved himself to fans and showed that he is versatile and adds substance to any song he hops into.

The 20-year-old has gone viral more than a few times and has held the #1 and #2 spots in the country for the past few weeks. Surpassing Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion‘s “WAP”, this is the first time both he and Iann Dior have hit the top charts. Billboard stated that “Mood” was the first song ever to lead the Hot 100, the Hot Alternative Songs chart, and the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart simultaneously.

Fans are excited to see what is to come of this new single and of his debut album El Dorado. See his Twitter promotion below.

24kGoldn, Justin Bieber, J Balvin, iann dior – “Mood (Remix)” (Video)

In an attempt to reclaim the first spot on the Billboard Hot 100, global pop and Latin pop icons Justin Bieber (@justinbieber) and J Balvin (@jbalvin) hop on 24kGoldn (@24kgoldn) and iann dior‘s (@ianndior) hit single, Mood (Remix).

Golden Landis Von Jones, artistically known as 24kGoldn, rose to fame in 2019 with his record, Valentino, which peaked at #92 on the Billboard Hot 100. The San Francisco native mentioned the upcoming all-star collaboration in a behind-the-scenes clip for his Billboard October Chartbreaker interview:

“The song’s come a long way, but this journey is definitely not over… I can tell you that we have a very special remix in the works… I can’t reveal too much now, but I promise, y’all are going to love to hear it.”

On the other hand, Bieber and Balvin have worked together in the past, as well. The Colombian superstar had a verse on Sorry (Latino Remix) back in 2015–remix to the hit single off Justin’s fourth studio album, Purpose. This was Balvin’s first-of-many crossovers into the American market. Moreover, it sparked the beginning of Latino Remixes, which became popular during the second half of the last decade. Justin isn’t foreign to these sorts of crossovers either, helping elevate Despacito (Remix) into becoming the most successful song of all time back in 2017.

Mood (Remix) – Lyric Video

The official lyric video premiered on November 5th, 2020. In just three days since its release, the song has already racked up about 1.3M views and 90K likes.

Original Version

Shortly after its release on July 24, 2020, Mood garnered popularity on the video-sharing app TikTok, and became a chart success worldwide, peaking at number one in the United States, the United Kingdom, and several other countries.

#FMTrends: Resse P – “#Mood” | @iamressep

From the earlier years of Hip-Hop, female emcees have worked twice as hard to stake their claim in the music industry. With huge successes for such artists like Salt-N-Pepa, Queen Latifah, MC Lyte and Missy Elliott, the exploitation of sexuality was not necessary to gain success. Of course, much has changes since “U.N.I.T.Y”. But, for those old enough to remember, in the beginning of Hip-Hop’s rise to prominence, it was about exceptional lyrics and delivery and not a showcase of tits and ass. That is why the introduction of Resse P, a Hip-hop lyricist from Chicago, is so nostalgic and hopeful.

In today’s world of Hip-Hop, the exploitation of female sexuality plays a dominant role in the success of most women emcees. That is no surprise to anyone with a radio or Spofity account. Refreshingly, Resse P is the antithesis of such tawdry and substance-less gimmicks. From the jump, she has refused to denigrate the craft and culture she’s loved since birth. Bringing Hip-Hop back to Hip-Hop is not a cliche spouted by fledgling rappers trying to make a name. For Resse P, it is about become an influence to young female emcees wanting to express themselves without selling out to corporate marketing ploys. “I want to do for them (young female emcees) what Mc Lyte did for me” said the Chicago native.

Resse P’s latest song “#MOOD” has been making headway and gaining traction among industry insiders and local DJs in NY and Chi-Town. Although early, she’s proof that the ability to make good music and spit dope lyrics is still; and should always be sacrosanct in Hip-Hop.

On the heels of her upcoming EP called 1 Verse, slated for release on April 20th, Resse P is set to drop another single called “Soda Poppin.” There is a lot riding on this single for many believe this will be the summer breakout track that her fans have been anticipating.
