Yung Baby Tate has taken to Instagram to make a major announcement. The Georgia native announced that she’s signed a deal with Warner Records and will be dropping her new single “Pedi” on the 29th of October.
Yung Baby Tate, born Tate Sequoya Farris, was born on the 13th of May in 1996 to Dionne Farris and David Ryan Harris. Her parents have musical backgrounds, with the mother being a soul singer and the father a producer. This later rubbed off on Tate, who began playing the piano at an early age. By 13, Tate was producing her own beats.
Baby Tate Formerly Yung Baby Tate
The “I Am” rapper shared that she’d changed her name from Yung Baby Tate to “Baby Tate.” Tate isn’t the only artist who’s reinvented themselves. Fellow Georgia native, Latto also announced a name change early this year after facing backlash due to the problematic origin of the previous name. The rapper went by the name Mulatto, an offensive term and slur that describes mixed-race children of Black and European origin.

Tate shared the news on her Instagram page.
“New name, new label, new song drops 10/29.”
She was previously signed to Raedio, a record label owned by Issa Rae. The “Insecure” creator featured two of Tate’s songs on the show, helping grow her fanbase.
Tate has collaborated with other artists including Bree Runway on “Damn Daniel” and Flo Milli on “I Am.” She released her sixth EP, “After The Rain,” while at Raedio. She later released its deluxe version in May of 2021.
